do we have any former scouts or girl guides

I was a scout although that was in the old days when being a boy scout was like serving in the sas or a crack paramilitary unit.

in those days boy scouts hunted pirates and criminal gangs which is part of the cause of a lack of pirates in the uk these days, as they were all hunted down by local scouting groups .

the scouts were set up by baden powell in the hieght of a colonial war battle with the boers , now well they have gone downhill and have all sorts of crazy health and safety rules

how do you feel about scouting, do you think todays scouts are a bunch of tenderfeet and mugwumps, or am I being overly critical

were you a scout, did you want to be or not want to be a scout .

I was a brownie, and then a guide. I loved the camping and stuff, but my guide leader really sucked and couldn't organise anything at all

When I was that age joining the Scouts in my town was a bit naff,
hence why I joined the Army Cadets. Not putting the Scouts down
here but it just wasn't for me, not enough action as it were.
But in the Army Cadets at 14 & 15 year old, I got to stay on a real
Army Camp for the summer, ride in army trucks, carry real guns,
got to shoot, sub-machine guns, pistols, rifles, smoke grenades,
stun grenades, abseil, rock-climb, use zip-lines, etc, etc, etc.
Just like the real proper army, and to top all that I became a
corporal too and also have my marksman certificates and shoulder
badges to this day. Plus if you actually wanted to join the real army
after it looked good on your CV, but I never went that far.
So yes, Army Cadets for me. lol.....

i liked it. i liked the camping especially. it was shibbiliscious. I loved doing the badge things it was kinda useful in a way. I was a bit of a rebel tho and gave my leaders a hard time.
