Ok, so I know you're not supposed to be drunk or have taken any meds that might thin your blood before you get a tattoo. But I was wondering about Marijuana? Does anyone know if being high on Marijuana thins your blood, or would otherwise have an effect on the outcome of the tattoo? It'd be a great way to deal with the pain of getting one. Just curious.
In my experience (4 tatts), smoking before a tattoo doesn't make a difference in how the tatt comes out. My first tattoo was done while completely sober and the other three were done after smoking a bit. I didn't bleed any more or less, the ink took well and they all healed at about the same rate. The sensation of the tatt gun was definitely different-without smoking the pain is a bit sharper. After smoking the pain is still there, but it is a bit more mellow if that makes any sense.
its a pile of testimonials from one of the (if not the) most respected body modification website. it doesnt do this to everybody obviously, but for some, that is the result. and i know people who said the same things as what the testimonials do.
Bre, I'd think (and remember I worked at a piercing shop for a while) that it depends on how you react with sensation overall while high. I tend to get hyperfocused on one thing and it becomes really , really big. Piercer results were 50-50, although we were to discourage any obviously drunk or stoned folks. (with a 5 percent off card good for 5 days)
I'm the opposite. All my senses pretty much die. Taste, smell, pain, nausea, anything... I'm the only one I know who's appetite actually goes away, LOL. I quite honestly don't like being high so I don't use it recreationally, but I umm, *might* use it solely for medical reasons. Was thinking *if* I used pot , it might be handy to help getting through the tattoo process since it pretty much kills all pain for me, even contact pain. The tattoos I have planned are basically going to be just black, dark ones spanning from the base of my neck to the bottom of my spine. Yup, my whole spine. I've heard that's one of the most painful places to get it done and it is scaring the crap out of me... So... thus my "bright idea". Can't use my regular pain killers as they mess with the blood and might make the tattoo messed up. I'm supposedly one of those people whom you can't tell if they are high or not, according to hubby, so maybe I could still do it. I always make sure I have a "babysitter" so to speak when under certain conditions, so he's usually with me and thus would definitely be when I get inked (if I ever get the moolah for it!!)
ive smoked before all of my tats and it hasnt made a bit of difference. i've even had one done while on pills and although i bled it wasnt very much and didnt have any ill effects.
I smoked before getting my first tattoo, and it scared me to death! But I think the only reason I was so freaked out was because of the nervousness of getting my first tattoo, combined with the fact that foot tatts hurts a LOT more than other places. Since pot makes anxiety-like feelings worse, it's probably not good to do it if you'll be anxious. If not, I don't think it'll change anything! ~Nova
If your tatty is gonna be that big your gonna have to go back a few times to get it finished, my artwork is done on my spine right between my shoulder blades, yeah it did hurt but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. i'd say go for your first session straight just so you can see what it's like before you decide to smoke the buhdda.
my body is well coverd in tats, bin token constantly for years. weed hightens the sensation of the tat gun.to find out how much, get the first 20mins of your tat straight, then get stoned.bet u wish u stayed straight.good luk. ps a tat is for life not just for a mad moment in time, choose wisely, take advice from the artist.also check his previous work make sure he/she is up to the job. theres a lot of shit scratchers out ther.
definately agree with king novacaine. bme is one of if not the most respected body modification site on the internet. it is filled with the most reputable artists over the country and in the world. i'm glad people shared their experiences, but it is a seriously good idea to go sober. tattoos don't hurt that much anyway. i think a better way to cope would be to expect a lot of pain and then realize its not as bad as you thought it was going to be.
tatt's definetly hurt but they aren't as bad as you think it's gonna be when your sitting in the chair waiting for the artist to start. plus after like 20 min your adrenaline will kick in and it won't be so bad
