What's the general consensus concerning Wings (albums)? I'm going through a Whings phase, so I'll start. With Wild Life.: When I first got it, I agreed with the critics, in that it was pretty pathetic. However, it starts to grow on you, and comes across as an enjoyable album with a jam-session feel about it. I think side B far outshines side A. Stinkers: Wild Life, Dear Friend
I so agree! I hated Wild Life when I first got it...and then a few days later I had about every song on the album stuck in my head. Actually Wild Life and Dear Friend are my two favorite tracks, but oh well everyone's entitled to an opinion. Right now I'm going through a huge "Ram" and "Wings Over America" phase. I have the latter on vinyl and it just makes me giddy with joy. The live version of "Maybe I'm Amazed" is...well.....amazing! ~Layla
YES! I completely agree with you. I don't have it yet, but the local record store has Wings over America for $2!!! I can't wait to go there. I LOVE Ram. Awesome album.
GET IT!!! I got mine for three at the local Allied Records (A Bargain I Say!) And it still had the poster and everything. Wings Over America is such a good live record. Some Wingy hits interspersed with Beatley goodness....my oh my the first time I listened to it all the way through I was so happy I'd dug to the bottom of the pile because some guy said he'd see it there a week ago. ~Layla
WOWOWWWWW! The poster!?! Wow. And Wings had the coolest logo. What do you think of Red Rose Speedway? I disagree with critics on this one. They say the first three songs on the album are great, but on the whole, it's disjointed and incomplete. It's one of my favourites. I think the medley at the end is fantastic. I LOVE "Big Barn Bed" and "Single Pigeon". Stinker: When the Night. It's not bad, but not the best on the album.
Call Me Back Again is amoung my favourite Wings songs... Always prefered the Jimmy McCulloch era Wings..
