I don't know about you, but I fucking loved it!!!!! It was funny and serious at the same time. It really made me think about life, and laugh my ass off at the same time. Could we really be stupider than dolphins and mice? Think about it man!!!!!! And for some strange reason, everytime I listen to "Gypsy" and "Question" by The Moody Blues, I always think of that movie.
I enjoyed this film, but it did stray from the book a bit. Still, I liked it. Did anyone ever watch the BBC series they made from it way back? (Okay, actually it started as what, radio, then tv, then, book, then movie? or was it radio, book, and then tv?) Whatever, that is the worst bunch of special effects I have ever seen in the BBC series, it's pretty damn funny just because of the awfulness of it.
It probably needed an updated version anyway. One thing I don't get, Trisha went with Zaphod in his spaceship, but it seems kinda weird that nothing happened. I mean he's a guy (i think) and she a woman, why didn't they get it on? I know after Arthur entered the picture, that all bets were off for Zaphod, but did anything happen between Zaphod and Trisha, before that? Is there more in the book about that, please somebody clarify...
The Movie had clearified, adjusted and justified a few things previous unanswered in All Our Minds.. I found the Movie was Funny & Interesting, But I still like The Original BBC TV Series Best! (And was it Disaster Area who did the opening Theme to the Hitchhiker's Guide? Oh well, Anyways, it kicks-ass!) DON'T PANIC! And for those who were absent at school that day: The Answer to Life, The Universe and simply Everything Is 42, thank-you... AEONFLUX3025
i loved it and i hadn't read the book when i saw it, but i've read it now too and both versions rock!
First I heard the radio series, then read the book, then saw the TV show and finally the film. I love HHG so much and whilst I think the radio is probably the best, the film was as bad as I was expecting, although I did think they ruined Zaphod (no he wasn't meant to be smart, but he was meant to be more substantial in some way- not sure what I mean but I just felt film Zaphod wasn't right). As for Trisha, we're never really sure what happens with her and Zaphod before the others turn up, he's clearly into her, but the whole point of Zaphod is he's more into himself and I'm going to stop being a nerd right about...now.
I just love this movie. It's the kind of movie that you can't explain to anyone who hasn't seen it. Sorta like a Far Side cartoon.
