...not just the sites, the locals, the culture, but the other travellers. When you get home you realise most people are just boring, but the people you meet when you're travelling are infinitely more interesting.
The thing I would miss most from travelling is not the sites, the locals, the culture nor the other travellers. It is the food.
That's true also, but I've been making loads of India food since I got home. Made some great dal and chipattis last night and have been making my own curd also. Next on my list is Momos and some Thai curry.
Ooooh!!! when you're gonna make that, can i come over for dinner then? see i'm convincing myself living on broccoli is great...
the thing i miss the most is that feeling....after getting lost, remembering that i always find the way again.
ah spacer, i'm also attempting thai red curry soon...we should swap notes ...Waitrose have a curry night tomorrow all you can eat...so finally i get to eat some decent food again (even though its just not quite the same)! ....I miss the sticky rice in Lao... I dont miss raiksy...evil stuff...damn those gurkas...! hmm
Asian food is great, it's quite easy to make once you get into. It's nice aswell because the flavours carry so many memories. The one thing I really wanna make but could be quite hard is veggie momos.
Yeah Mc Leod Ganj, in Jardi in Parvatti, all over Nepal and in Goa aswell. They are just lovely. I could eat them everyday of the week. I love the Tibetan Thugkpa (sp?) and Thenka (sp?) aswell.
Oh come on, nobody likes the Tibetan food. It is by far the worst food in all of Asia. Not to mention the drink you get with the food; yak-butter tea. I have to admit though that Tibetan food in India is better than Tibetan food in Tibet.
Momos are Nepalese/Tibetan foodrolls. That has absolutely nothing to do with Mcleod Ganj, although you can get them there as well.
i know bird migration... just spacer mentioned mcloed ganj and the first place i encountered momos was mcloed so i automatically associate them with that place... Though the ones in Leh were much better...crispy...the ones in mcloed are all doughy and bland which is why they give you the hot chilli sauce with them! I agree tibetan food sucks on the whole though...especially the bread....so bland. Thai/Laotian/Cambodian food is my favourite...Indian is also awesome...
One of my favorite dishes while traveling was a pineapple, tomato, cilantro, chicken fry made in Vietnam. It’s super easy to make at home as well. I just loved the liberal use of cilantro and mint in Vietnamese cooking. Also, I’m all about fried momo and samosas
