Tan Dun- he's the composer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. The soundtrack to Hero (Jet Li film) is incredible, I can't get enough. Also Psy-Trance is pretty amazing, though I've loved it forever- mostly the mellower stuff anyway.
Country: Cordoba; Ian Tyson; Trevor Tchir (is sort of country-ish, but is basically acoustic-roots but with pedal steels); Corb Lund Rock/Pop: The Ladies and Gentlemen; BRMC (I could put them in the Country section cause all I've heard is the "Howl" LP, but I will put it in Rock none the less) umm, yeah...think that is about it. Go listen to them NOW!
Propagandhi, Rage Against the Machine, Western Addiction, Leftover Crack, World Inferno/Friendship Society, Stockyard Stoics, Dead Kennedys, Sage Francis, lots more.
I'm having an Iced Earth revival, and My Dying Bride's been back into picture more clearly again. Also recently I've taken a liking to, or discovered more of: Cat Stevens (thanks mum & Lisa too) Simon & Garfunkel (thanks mum & Lisa too) Johnny Cash (thanks professor Taylor) Rory Gallagher (thanks Lisa) Frank Zappa (thanks Lisa) Aaskereia (thanks Isabelle) Mörk Gryning (thanks Stijn) Burzum (thanks me) There's probably more but that's about all I can think of just now.
