The commune polls seem very very slow... soo

lets say your like dropped out of a plane into the woods(unintentionally) like they pilot dies or something...

you have a hatchet, and a jar a peanut butter...you think you'd survuve in the woods?

I know i could survive as long as it wasent winter
Id wait around the crash site for a few weeks then i would start migrating south
Id keep the peanut butter it makes irresistable bait for squrriels, which can then become dinner and fish bait

giving the thread some thought ....in 6 days ,7 nights ,anne heche asks harrison ford if he isn't the type of guy who given a pen knife can build a gal a shopping mall ..he replies no ...well,i'm the opposite ..i probably could but it would have to be in a temperate zone where i knew what kind of animals, plants ,etc..in canada i would be able to survive a lot given that i could scrounge parts off the plane and depending where i was the food available .i have spent enough time in the woods to know where and what foods are available ..may not be the most palateble but could keep a person alive ..also know how to build a good shelter ...most people who die after getting lost in the woods usually panic and lose it because none of them have ever spent a full night in the woods .
making traps for fish or big game is easy...food can be found in many a location even right in the middle of winter ..grubs,some foliage, tubers from cattails etc etc...depending on the time of year would dictate what kind of shelter

Yes, I am fairly certain that I could survive if I had at least one other person with me and I was in an area where I could hunt/fish. I could make a fire (without matches), and build a shelter easily (since you are conveniently leaving me with an ax), there are always wild edibles around (some are even tasty)so hopefully I would be in an area that I could identify what can and can not be eaten. Almost any place has squirrels, chipmunks, snakes (which I understand are good), rabbits (easy to snare)and frogs. Once you have a good source of fire, shelter and water you can build tools to go after big game. Mind you I am not saying this would be a walk in the park, but yes I think I could survive. The only problem here would be loneliness and I am not sure I would survive that indefinitely. I would not want to be a sole survivor with no hope of rescue.
