"I noticed she had the baby in her lap," he tells the paper. "Next thing I know, she was driving south on the PCH ... I'm not sure if she was wearing a seat belt ... I was surprised. She looked very relaxed -- like it was a normal thing to do."

As far as I'm concerned, most Hollywood Celebrities are complete head cases plain and simple. However I am perplexed as to why they all seem to think that their so much better than everyone else around them.

Did she get in trouble? I hope so. In my defensive driving course we were watching a video, where on mother let her mom take the grandchild somewhere. During the trip, the child started fussing, so G-ma took the child out of her car seat and was holding her as she drove. Another car ended up hitting them or they hit another car or something, but G-ma ended up crushing baby between her and the steering wheel.

Anyone driving on PCH should have a seatbelt on, not to mention baby in a car seat. She should have the child taken away- anyone else would. Poor kid, blatant disregard for safety like that is idiotic. Who cares if the papparazzi was chasing them- recently several people have been in car wrecks after being chased by photographers- Lindsey Lohan, Princess Di, did she consider that when worrying about her child's safety?

She had a passenger in the car too. If the intent was truely to just escape the papparazzi then why wasn't the passenger holding the baby? Still not a safe thing to do, but much better than trying to drive and hold a child. Just my opinion.

From what I heard on the news tonight, the police say that they can't really charge her with anything because they didn't actually see what happened. I call B.S. If I got caught doing the same thing, I'm sure I'd be in BIG trouble and my kids might be taken away from me. It must be nice to be a celebrity. Money really can buy you anything!

I find it funny they can say they didn't "see" what happened when they have the whole thing on tape thanks to the paparazzi. Didn't they base a full out child abuse case on a blurry security camera tape when that mom hit her daughter in a parking lot? Honestly, I'd say the tape they had on Brittany is pretty clear and showing exactly what happened.... I don't buy that excuse. She probably had mommy pay 'em for her while she was off doing something else equally stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even talk to her personally.

OK. I never thought I would be defending Spears. I don't like the way she portrays herself, she dresses pretty sleazy and really does not understand the way her actions effect the way young womyn view themselves. So, I have never been a fan and have always been a bit critical of her.

The way I heard the story, she was being pursued by Paparazzi, and she has been stong about not wanting her child photographed. I don't blame her for trying to protect her child. When I first saw the story, I was angry with her, but when I learned why she did it, it makes sense. Evidently, she only drove a few blocks. Certainly a better alternative to letting people take advantage of her child's image.

Maybe not the smartest thing to do, I certainly am not condoning it, but the picture I saw did not have anyone else in the car, just Spears and the baby. I didn't see a passenger.

Spears is a public personality, but her baby is not. She does have a right to protect her child. She also has a right to go out for coffee without being assaulted. She has good reason for not wanting the child photographed, and I think she just panicked and jumped into the car.

And, I read yesterday that CPS showed up at her door. I am sure it scared the shit out of her. One silly mistake is certainly not a reason to take anyone's baby. Micheal Jackson wasn't even questioend when he dangled "his" baby from a 3rd floor balcony. Spears was protecting her young, Jackson was showing off (with a child who I doubt is even his offspring) why the difference in how they were treated?

Well, if you don't want your children photographed have the windows of your car tinted so that they can't take pics of them when they are in the backseat. A few blocks down PCH is too many. I reiterate. Drivers on PCH don't care about the baby three cars behind them. They just want to get to where their going as quickly as possible. There is no excuse for not putting that child in a car seat. Even a rear facing seat in the front seat would be safer than no seat at all!

I am not really defending her, just that the Pap were right behind her, and she didn't have time to put the baby INTO the car seat. They didn't try to photograph the baby IN her car, they were trying in the Starbucks, which has no tinted booths, as far as I know.

I can't blame her for wanting some normalcy for her child. I am not fond of the womyn, her politics or the way she misunderstands her feminity most of the time. But CPS investigations are usually based on SERIOUS crimes against children. Not an occasional mishap. Beating a child in a parking lot is a sign that that person most likely does WORSE when she is not in public, a mother trying to get away from people chasing her should be given a little slack.

If someone you didn't know was attempting to photograph your baby AGAINST your will, in a public place, would the car seat be your first priority, or would your first priority be getting away from the insane person who won't respect your privacy?

She wants normalcy for her child, she should move to Paris.

There is NO excuse for that behaviour.

And yeah, same thing with Schwarzenegger - out biking every week with the CHP for years, when he crashes his trike they find out he's been riding a Harley all these years without a licence - but he DID have a motorcycle licence back in Austria in the 60s. "Never got around to getting one". I should try that if I ever get popped, no wait, I got my licence cause I'm a law abiding person.

From the story I heard, she did have a body guard with her. If she was so worried about her child being photographed, locking herself in the backseat of the car, waiting for the bodyguard to get in and drive away would have been sufficient. There was absolutely NO EXCUSE for NOT putting her child in his seat.

And apparently from the pictures taken, she didn't look too upset with the situation. If it were me, I'd be visably shaken and quite pissed off. She looked almost relaxed. She's just majorly ridiculous.

It's kinda hard to know what was going on in her head. Again, I am not defending her, just saying that she may have panicked.

Was Ahnold trying to prevent his child from being photographed, while being pursued by nuts with cameras? If not, I don't see the relevence.

Anyway, it's being made a bigger deal than it should have been. <shrug>
