Hedge hogs are really cute. Are they hard to care for? I have two ferrets that were given to my husband when his friend moved and boy, they are a pain to care for properly.

suggestion: instead of buying a cage....build one yourself and make it more like a little apartment with different floors and things so that way it will help lessen the bordem of the animal when its spending time in its "cage". are hedgehogs social creatures? if so it would be best to get two

I'm thinking about build a little house with plixe glass and silicon.

Can't keep two males together and you can't keep a male and female together after they mate or the male will eat the babbies. Basicly the only Female/female gets along. atleast thats what i've read. The cool part is I work 3rd shift tech support from home *gotta love highspeed internet and vocie over IP fones* so I can keep him company!

thats nice but i still believe that every social species needs a friend of their own species.......why not get two females or a male/female and see about having the female fixed? im sure its possible...........

Hedgehogs aren't social speices really....Some places want even ship male/male or male/female together. And most recomend that if you do get two females that you get two sisters.

Oooh, how cute! Umm, have you handled one yet? Hedgies do something called "annointing" where they rub their saliva all over their bodies. And many people have a mild skin reaction to this. Just a lil heads-up.
    love,

Aww hedgehogs are cute. I remember one time me and my cousin found one which had an injured leg and we took it home and put it in a comfy box and a few weeks later it was all better. I think he let it out back into the wild. Shame! I wanted to keep it
