Hi, i was wondering how do you have an hermaphrodite plant? i heard stress changes them, im doing it beacuse i have lowryders and the wind has killed them 1 is good and 2 maybe, i want to have a hermaphrodite so i can have more seeds and start again, so anyone know? is there a chemical? thanks
Hi there... as far as I'm concerned there is no chemical... and by the way why use chemicals?!?!? to be honest with you it's the stress you put on a plant plus the fact that it is her decision... to save the race.. to keep life alive... It is her decision...natural obviously... Actually I know that this may not be the right thread where to post this, but does anybody knows which way I can treat my Hermaphrodite plant? Shall I cut it off and starting drying it to avoid any pollination? Or I better leave SHE as SHE is? Plz Help...THANKYOU
I believe I had read once that that a common over the counter pain killer (aspirin ibuprofen naproxen or acetaminophen not sure which) could be diluted in water and sprayed on the foliage causing the affected aria to hermaphrodite without changing the remainder of the plant. It may also include shading of the aria in a dark bag (which would be a good idea to contain the pollen anyway) I have never tried this but I can see how it might be useful in a small scale novice breeding experiment. (or an attempt to preserve the genetics of a favorite female in seed form). Hope this is of some help, and would love to hear if anyone has experience in this sort of thing.
