All I know about J. Edgar Hoover and his cross dressing is that you shouldn't wear pearls and pumps before 5pm. Also white dresses is good for summer evenings but not after Labor day.

I don't blame the F.B.I. for watching a revolutionary subversive like John Lennon.He had a drug conviction in the U.K.Of course President Nixon was the instigation behind Lennon's harassment & refusal to grant a Green Card.

Perhaps L.B.J. had the best solution to dealing with an Ogre like J.Edgar Hoover;-foil his phone-tapping exploits by making all your Whitehouse telephone conversations taped & publically-accesible.

I just had a horrible visual. In my mind, I saw J. Edgar Hoover (Mrs.) sitting on a plush comfy couch while dressed in full drag regelia. He was wearing a yellow flower print dress, a matching yellow Easter bonnet, and enough makeup which would make Tammy Fae Bakker proud. The scarey part was the sonofabitch wouldn't keep his knees close together. A real Sharron Stone moment.
