Will my hair shorten?

Hi to everyone, I'm new. But anyways, I really want dreads. My hair is a strange cut. Its shoulder length in the front, and about 2 inches shorter in the back. I don't want my hair to be too short, so if I get dreads will my hair get shorter?

yes. no1 knows how much they will shorten, ya just gotta let them be and see how much.

 

Yeah they will shorten. Probably the thicker your dreads the more length you'll loose. Maybe cut the front to match the back.. but I really love dreads that are all different lengths

 

yeah you will lose some length and when you're done backcombing and got 'dreads' they will shrink even more!
