Let me see if I can sum up this problem and still make sence. William Elias is a man with 3 wives and 12 children... They lived happily in there home as a big family. One of their children died of a heart condition at their home and was left at the hospital unclaimed. Aparently the child had a heart condition that wasn't treated by medical doctors, but by homeopathy and natural remedies. None of the children were registerd legaly and this became a problem for the family and soon they were followed by the new, police and health oficials. Aparently the child showed no evidence of abuse so no charges were made. Soon after this death another child died... There was no known cause of death and the family had to wait for a few weeks for autopsy results to be told. Meanwhile acusations started being made... people started talking about the family as if they were freaks. They were all over the news again and they kept saying that the child might have been abused. They criticized the family in so many ways, it was terrible. they were being judged just for being diferent. the children were all homeschooled and followed a healthy vegan diet. (as i heard) But besides the fact that they were homeschooled the press enphasized that they did not go to school as if it was wrong. They also critisized their diet as if they were not feeding them right and starving. And they talk about the wives as if they were ... well you know. But thats not the worse part... when the autopsy results were anounced (yes anounced like something the puplic should know) they said that the child had bad bruises on his chest and that it caused his death. the family says they are being set up, and that the child was taken to tha hospital with no bruises and that they must have been caused by the doctors when they tried to revive him. Soon after this came out, social services took all the 12 children from their home. And now the father has to go to court. This case is trully making me angry with society. I trully believe they are being set up. first they said that the bruises could be from the resucitation and now they say he was abused. I just dont buy it. I think they are being discriminated for being "diferent" and for going against what is socially accepted as "normal". Not every one has the perfect little job and the typical "text book" family. How did this world get to be like this. I cant imagine those 12 children living out of there home and being forced to live they way society tells them is right. Surely they will be fed diferently from their vegan diet and probably get sick even. Those people must be filling their heads with all sorts of lies. It realy makes me mad. This shows how intolerant people can be. Well I'm sorry if I rambled on but I needed to get it out. I was looking for the news in english but I can't find any, only spanish. Anyway, I would like to hear what you guys think about this situation.
oooh god... yeah i think they're being set up. people make a big deal about large families these days, and if you had your typical family but with alot of kids and 2 of them die its gonna be on the news and thre's gonna be gossip, and if some guy has 3 wives, same thing will happen, people start talking, discriminating, so i think if you combine those two, that story is what happens i guess so yeah i believe they're being set up too.
People not excepting others as being different is one reason we stopped replying to emails about visits to our communitity down here in Puerto Rico. we are not like that case. and none of us are even dating each other or anything sexual. but people still look at you funny and say things behind your back. i left the states for many reasons and Puerto Rico was the solution for some of them but the problem of people not excepting others for being different is even worse down here. So many are stuck on appearences and only want to do what the main stream thinks as "cool" fancy cloths getting dressed up to go on quick errands. guys getting their fingure nails painted. running from a little rain cause they might get wet and mess up the hair. long ass fake nails. loud cars.. all the things they think looks neat cool or like they are showing off but dont have a practical purpose. vegataiians down here is even more rare. i dont live in Metro Area but on this end of the island i only know of one vegan store and its going out of buisness. i just hpe things work out for that family. but two deaths in row like that does make a person wonder. im not saying they are guilty or any thing cause i have no idea. but with the authoritites the way they are. because stupid nousy people keep voting the wrong liberal parties into office its just going to continue. freedom should not have to dictated by laws. and any time there is a new law its just more freedoms down the drain. dont mess with me or my things, and i wont mess with you or your things. life, liberty and happiness. you want a fancy loud 4cyl Japonese car that cant make it up the HILL between Ponce and Yauco ok fine by me but dont get mad when my ugly old 6cyl ford passes you on the way up. LOL im rambling on like always agin and im sorry but her little rant on that story got me going it sucks that people cant be left alone to do what they like or feel is right for them and their familes just because other people dont agree.
I so agree with you gringo, but i think people like us are rare on this island. at least the only friend that shares the same ideas as me is my husband... I would love to meet other people but everyone I meet turns out to be like everyone else. I guess you don't know much about the Metro Area, take my advise and never come here. people seem to be angry and frustrated all the time. It's just bad vibes most of the time... I'm kind of used to it since I've been here my whole life. But sometimes my encounters on the street aren't too nice. I try to avoid conversations on me being vegan, because it leads to getting angry. Actually I hardly ever talk about my view because no one understands. They ask me why all the time and no explanation seems to make them understand... It like you have to do, think, be, feel and look like everyone else and if you don't you are just WRONG. If it wasn't for my husband I don't know what i would do...
belive me. i avoid the metro area unless its a must. nothing there for me. i cant figure out why all the turists flock to the metro area. the south and west is so much nicer. cleaner beaches calmer water..less people... win win ... now im not a vegan but it dont bother me one bit that other people are. one of the single mothers that stays here has lotts of problems though she dont eat meat is into wicca and nudisim. and you wouldnt belive some things people say about her. like shes the devil himself or something..... anyways goodluck up in the metro area. and you dont have to worry about meeting me up there LOL.
i have always pondered on the possibility of being the sultan of a vast harem , my girlfriend says i couldn't handle it.
Well if they move to Utah they should not have as many problems. Just a joke. I think that alternative lifestyles and families are going to be an issue of debate here in the US over the next few years. People home schooling their children is already becoming more common. I personally know two people who are home schooling their children. I read an interesting statistic somewhere that stated children who were home schooled (on average) scored higher on standardized test then children who were enrolled in private schools. ( I don’t recall where it was that I read that) You do have to admit that the death of 2 children in a short period of time is suspicious and of course the authorities are going to want to investigate. Part of the problem with having a free press though is that people are often tried and convicted in the media and public opinion not the courts. Anyway, so long as people are not harming anyone, people should be left alone to do their own thing.
