I am, as far as I know, the luckiest person alive. I was born with so many opportunities that I throw em away like garbage. I dare anyone to outluck me!

I was born white, male, Swedish(and random European stuff mixed in), into a rich, caring family, in one of the best and safest parts of the country (Westchester, New York), I have christian parents, blond hair, blue eyes, I have normal blood pressure and cholesteral despite eating till I'm over three hundred pounds fat, I am intelligent, go to a great school district, got accepted into Binghamton (a great school), have no serious mental or physical problems, and when my dad got both hepatitis c and liver cancer, he got a transplant in only three months and recovered fully from both.

Seriously I could be president. I could tell the president what to do. I could do anything, and if I put my mind to it and used the opportunities presented to myself, I could probly fix world hunger. If there is someone with more opportunites and a better chance at having a happy life, I would shit myself.

I feel lucky and am young. I hope that doesnt make me cocky:( I just feel blessed, thats all. Not because my parents were white or because im from a certain religion or anything...just because...because im obviously blessed:| I have people who love me and care and a warm, safe house to live in and opportunities for the future. I rarely throw opportunities away, though...

I wrote a reply to someone in the "True confessions"(i think?)forum who i think felt a little like you, original poster. That they really had been given a lot...but they seemed, like you, to not really know what to do with that blessing. Perhaps ive judged you wrong. But, you dont mention anywhere what you intend to DO with all this good fortune, for the good of yourself and the world. You are, afterall, in one of the easiest positions to help...Anyway feel free to check it out, im too tired to retype, and this damn thing STILL wont paste.

I personally dont think the things you describe make a person "lucky", but if you feel happy then great:) jus dont forget youre blessed for a reason.

yikes, sorry for sounding like a cocky loser. all i meant was that in the current society, biased as it is, i am, on paper and paper only, "perfect."

  10. Good point matey.

But remember it is hard for the rich to get into heaven. I'm not a christian or anything, I just thought i'd use that phrase to illustrate that those who have got 'too much', often don't appreciate it, and often wouldn't know real happiness if it kicked them in the nuts.

I would rather be poor and happy, then just have a lucky and easy life.

By the way, i was fairly lucky. Got brought up middle class, went to a good private school, loving family. I got expelled, then i went back to public school, got into a really good university course and i quit. Couldn't handle all the bullshit. Now i'm seeking a life that resembles happiness far more than what it appears to be on 'paper'.

yeah well there's a famous person in history that gassed people for not having blonde hair and blue eyes and saying your lucky sounds like your devalueing those without those physical qualities and whats with having christian parents does that mean you feel other religions are worthless.
if this is not what your trying to say and you feel its biased, you shouldn't be encouraging this way of thinking by saying what you did.
I agree with the other poster, saying that your blessed and thankful for your life style is one thing, but you didn't say any of this, I would also support the point of view that if you are in such a good postion, you are in a good postion to help others.
in a hippy community, in a 'rainbow' family we should be promoting that people should love themselves and each other regardless of race, sexulity, gender, religion etc or maybe we should love one another BECAUSE of all those things and embrace diversity.
when people in the world are still being hurt because others see them as different and inferiour because of their religion or skin colour, it makes me damn angry to read things that I think are promoting this way of thinking.
