For the past few days, I've been getting gas so bad that it hurts. And I can't get it out! So my stomach just cramps up. My diet isn't any different, so what's the deal?

    Any ideas?

And is there anything I can do to help it?

You may have something called Irritable Bowel, go to a doctor and ask about it, there are treatments for it. Its kind of embarassing to ask them about it, but they get it pretty often. Don't ask me how I know this...

i'd take it as a girl thing...? sometimes gas just happens. your body changes, your chemistry changes. mine changes at least twice a month, with my period and ovulation and all. sometimes i can eat onions, sometimes i really can't!
could be how you're sleeping, a tiny change in diet, caffeine, whatever. stress. gastritis occurs when the cold and warm collide (as i'm quoting from an herbal class i took 3 years ago; words might be strange). like, your body is 98 degrees. enter something cold, like ice cream for example, and it shocks your body's natural warmth. causes gas. sometimes for me, eating something real spicy shocks my body in a similar way, this time due to warmth. but i mostly get gas if i'm hungry and have forgotten to eat (trying not to do that!) for me that is definitely the most often cause of gas.

oh, and about that irritable bowel thing - that's when you can't stop pooping, not directly a gas issue.

for your gas, try warm tea (preferably peppermint or ginger - strong ginger (fresh grated with a cheese grater into hot hot water)) and a nice bath. put some massage cream on your lower belly and apply light pressure. smoke some calming herbs.

oh, just thought of something else! (at least i don't have gas too much due to all this research i do!)
if you are feeling gassy for more than 2 days, perhaps you need to clean out your insides a little. for that i strongly recommend a laxitive tea; does a body good every now and again. sometimes theres just junk in ya belly that is having trouble coming out (hence, gas) and it needs a little assistance.

poor digestion (which often results in gas) can be caused by a lack of digestive enzymes or intestinal flora (the good bacterias in our tummy) but most often it is due to poor eating habits, poor quality food, or most commonly stress
for me, eating too quickly is a major cause of gas (yeah, getting in a hurry & forgetting to chew!)
drinking cold fluids with your meal can also contribute
some great suggestions above like adding the beneficial bacteria (yogurt, acidophilus) drinking tea after meals (peppermint, ginger)
also papaya enzymes aid in digestion (you can find them at the health food store) or a digestive bitter tincture (sweedish bitters is a good example) or chew seeds after your meal like fennel, cardamom, cumin, dill, anise...these will REALLy help with bloating & gas....good luck!
