Love-in? That's a little too grooovy for me. Way 60's. I guess it was more of a trippy-day-in-the-Golden-Gate-Park kind of thang. Let's all join hands.

I don't the whole history, but i think some Love-ins had tens of thousands of people, but just for a day, which of course went late-night for some folks. I guess there are still big block parties in some cities, so it would be more like that, only bigger. Love-ins were a city thing, whereas gatherings can be way off in the forest. Mainly tho, calling a block party, or a pot-luck, a Love-in nowadays would sound kind of farcical. I'm visuallizing something out of Austin Powers, with a little too much day-glo, love-beads, face-painting, dancing around a Maypole, thing going on.
