I've noticed on the woodstock DVD that guitarist from the airplane wearing onea round his neck and some of the hells angels on their jacket. I also read them useing it int he electric kool-aid acid test. Why did they do this? I know that before it was adopted by the nazis it was a realigous symbol in a few religons. But was there a certain reason to it, or was it just a shock thing, part of their "game"?

It's an ancient symbol of good luck WHEN the arms come out of the cross as if it were spinning right. When it's arms are as if it were spinning left, as the Nazi's had it, it represented evil.

This was no accident on the Nazi's part: many of their leaders were deeply into mysticism and black magic.

I find that odd. A bunch of middle aged "Aryan" men believing in Black Magic. But anything's possible...

Badwolf, I have a book somewhere among thousands that tells in detail of Goebbels and Goring's fascination with Tibetian black magic, only I'm not in the mood to ferret it out. Some people say Hitler was merely a medium through which others worked their will. I don't know; don't care; know only this: my father was a medic with Patton's troops and liberated Dauchua Prison Camp. He was never the same--he had witnessed evil at its basest. God rest his soul--he deserves it.

In Sonny Barger's autobiography (he was the head of the Oakland Hells Angels) one day he was in need of a belt and someone grabbed one from his dad's collection who'd been in the war. Taken it off a German and kept it as a memento.

Some people saw him wearing it and copied him. Since then that and the Iron Cross have become part of the scene. I've since read in the Horse that it's to be considered as a trophy, America's conquest of the Nazis, as opposed to them having adopted the trappings.

and Niger used to be a river in Africa yet i hesitate to use the word. Not to be politically correct, just out of respect.Don't care what sonny wrote, everything we do is on purpose.Swaticas now represent division of races and cultures and are disrespectful to good people

Gate68,the problem with this world is that people are all too ready to be offended. FUCK THAT NOISE!!!!! I ask you: how can someone offend you? No one can offend me--I don't consider anyone's opinion about anything to be worthy of my anger.

As Celine used to say: I piss on you all from a great height.

This is totally off-thread, but lovely LoveLightLisa: why are your eyes always closed in your photos and images? I bet they're blue and pretty, too. (So are my pussycats-- well, not blue, more yellowish, but that's neither here nor there, just somewhe-rish).

Nazi emblems were popular in the 1960s. Today everything seems to a dam issue.
