We have to have protein not just from beans, but from meat to. we need it in our diet, because we are omnivorses.

We don't NEED meat to be healthy. You can get all the protein you need by mixing complementary foods. Meat takes a whole WEEK to get all the way thru your system from plate to bathroom, so lots of time for all it's toxins to hang out doing stuff in your body. Most store bought meat is full of growth hormones, pesticides, adrenaline, and if you're a meat eater and you simply quit, you'll probably lose between 10 and 15 pounds... But meat IS natural food for humans, we DO have 4 carnivore teeth for a reason...

Now on the other hand, I really don't feel like it's exactly right to eat meat without taking some responsibility for it. After all, it is flesh, just like we are. If I think about it like that, then I feel like a cannibal when I eat it. What do you suppose a HUMAN rump roast would look like/taste like/smell like cookin'? Probably just about the same as beef or pork. I was a vegetarian for years, but being a farmer, and also not liking to put folks out of their way too much when they invite ya to dinner, I decided to be PRACTICAL instead of a vegetarian. But I needed to know that I could be responsible for my meat eating, so I went out, sharpened an ax and cut off the head of a chicken, butchered it and cooked it and ate it. There! Now I REALLY felt like a cannibal. How many of you meat eaters can do the killin' yourselves?

I told a 6 year old girl one time that hamburgers were made of dead cows, and she totally freaked out! I never fed meat to my kids until they were old enough to grasp this fact. It just didn't feel right.

Oh, and while were on this subject, how many of you know about eggs? They come out the same hole as the poop, ya know. And do you know what chickens eat in their natural state? EVERYTHING! Rotten carcass, rotten compost, bugs and worms and maggots, dogshit, hell, they'll even eat each other if they get too crowded!

Yup, best to know where your food comes from...

i eat meat and thus ''Hitler''

Well in fact Hitler was a vegetarian. Read your history books. Plant eating animals kill far more humans per year then carnivorious ones. Example: The hippopotamus contributes to more human deaths in Africa than lions, crocodiles and venomous snakes combined.

Being able to eat almost any type of food gives humans a long term survival advantage. This is one major reason the dinosaurs died out. The climate changed. Dinosaurs, being highly specialized in their diet, died when the limited foods that they could eat were no longer availible.

If you come down to it, killing is killing, wether it is a plant, insect, microbe, fungus, animal, etc. Everyones bodies are continuously killing various bacteria, viruses, etc internally without ever thinking about it. Somehow I think a 4000 year old bristlecone pine tree is more important then a year old chicken. Parts of both could be eaten. The inner layer of bark on the tree and the meat off the chicken. Eating either would kill but I would feel a million times worse killing the tree. Plants are your friends. Plants do far more for humanity then animals do. Some religions claim that animals were created by plants. The plant kingdom existed long before there were any animals. Some plants are way more evolved then any animals.]

And yes most people are evil. As history has shown, most people who think they are doing good are in fact doing the opposite. Hitler was convinved he was doing what was good and right.

yeah, good vegans are generally healthier, because of hormones and shit in milk and the diseases people are more prone to in meat. Although, if you're not good about being a vegan, there's trouble, but being a vegan doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy.

I don't believe in evil. But if you get right down to it, I believe that it's not the eating meat part that would make it bad. It's the unnecessary suffering of crop animals and field animals that has become a part of industrial agriculture. They're in it for the $$ and they could care less.

That is probably what vegans are so pissed about.

I know its hard to believe but Adolf Hitler really was a vegetarian. I think it shows that being a vegetarian has nothing to do with how good of a person you are. The vegetarian society in Germany was formed in 1867. Hilter felt that it was more healthy for people to give up meat. Read the historical documents from the time period. The common tendency is to demonize Hitler without any relation to historical facts. Some people try to say he wasn't because they think it gives vegetarianism bad conitations today. It is a simple personal choice in diet. Some people get all religious about it. Why do you think hardcore vegans are sometimes call "veganazi's".

The evolutionary evidence makes it clear that vegan diets are not the original, natural diet of humans, and never have been at any point in our history. If you would like to read more about the history of the human diet and potietial problems with vegetarianism go to - http://www.beyondveg.com/nicholson-w/hb/hb-interview1a.shtml#top

I've been a farmer for years. Storebought milk and cheese and such could be polluted with anything from antibiotics and pesticides to the cleaning liquid that the health inspectors demand that you use for cleaning your milking equipment. Instructions on the antibiotics and such tell the farmer to wait so many days before using the milk, but many farmers don't want to dump out that much milk. Milk = money, and the farmers get the shitty end of the stick as far as money goes. The cleaning liquids which must be used BY LAW, are so toxic that you MUST wear rubber gloves or risk having the skin litterally burned off your hands, and it's HARD to get rinsed off. If someone were in a hurry......

But, I feel that store bought milk and cheese and yogurt are still far more healthy than store bought meat. (homegrown, natural, and organic are something else altogether) I sat thru a demonstration at the local livestock sale, given by a salesman of all the many things that they recommend beef farmers use for their cattle. First they shot an implant (hormones) into the cows ear, to make them grow faster. Then they painted some highly toxic substance on the cows back, which is supposed to repel flies for long periods of time. The cow got shots for worms, and a large yellow tag in the ear with pesticide in it, designed to continuously feed into the cows system. By the time the demonstration was done, I looked at the good old boy farmer sitting next to me and told him I didn't much feel inclined to eat that one, and he agreed...

There are other things about hitler that are positive, amazingly enough. He was a horse lover to the extreme. Whenever he was going to invade in an area, he would send in scouts to locate all the horse breeding facilities, and he would make sure that they were secured before the attack, so that no horses would get injured.

Earthmother--are you mistaking Hitler with Gen. George Patton? Patton saved the famous horses of Lippenzauer (sp.). I don't think Hitler gave a rip-shit about saving much of anything. This famous "animal-lover" used his beloved dog Blondi as a guinea pig to test out one of the cyanide pills he later used to kill himself.

BTW-- I not only kill my own meat, but I gut, skin, butcher and bag it. Then, I eat it, digest it and poop it out.

    It never stinks, though.

I believe No ones born, ether good or evil; where born neutral, and as like a sponge we absorb into us every thing we are, via our parents first, peers and our environment. Culture, religious and emotional conditioning play a really big part in how we think and create this reality we share.

Being Good Or Evil is just a defined reality that most of you label accordingly via your beliefs, in the direction of others. What is good what is evil really. It all comes down the how the current age of being-ness defines it or is it only a tool to control you further.

Am I to be labeled evil by some; because when you asked me to share a sick of gum, and I gave you the smaller half. Does it make me evil because I eat meat too. Sure it was once alive, so are Plants.

Plants also breath, grow and emit and spread life as animal and human life does. Just because a vegetarians point of view, may think that plants have no conciseness that makes it OK to eat plants etc... They do have a conciseness and thats should make it just as bad as eating meat then. Heck it's OK to trample over weeds but keep off the grass. Cheese and Rice, man, they have rights too.

Ether you chose the vegetarian route or both, as I see it, evil is when you just kill for the hell of it! But if you kill to consume to keep yourself alive thats nether good or evil thats being human and necessary. Every life form has it's ways of survive and have there rights to live too, cept we humans can "chose" So making the conscious effort to consume less and be mindful turds other life forms is whats important here.

I think that if someone Said "Hey I love life, and will never take it from anything else!"
It would make them a very humble person, but if not it does'nt make them evil.

I read the thing about Hitler in a horse mag a few years ago, blame them. Ya can't live without taking life. Vegies are life, ya walk across the ground and squish tiny plants and bugs, that's life. Everything made of wood, everything made of leather, everything made of paper................................Evil is evil and we all know what that is. Everything else is just opinion. Don't think so friggin' hard!
