Sorry if this has already been brought up, which I'm sure it has, but who here has read this?? I'm not very far in yet, so please no spoilers. I just wanted to see what everyone thought of it. It really intrigued me, how they seem to live in some sort of alternate reality, or some other time period in our reality. And how the firemen start fires, rather than put them out. Also, does anyone know why Micheal Moore chose to name his movie after this book??
I read it in middle school. Good book. You should see the 1966 movie, it's pretty cool. I would assume Micheal Moore used the name because of the way the government was in the book, and he was comparing it to the Bush administration. But I don't know for sure.
i LOVE this book and the movie. I first read it in 10th grade and fell in love with it. I've done several papers/projects on it in my college career.
SUCKS if you wanna read a good futuristic book of the sorts The Wanting Seed by Anthony Burgess (he's such a god) and yeah, it may seem like an alternate reality to you, but it is just retro futuristc Wanting Seed has a far more realistic and possible depiction of the future me thinks and about the Michael Moore thing, he just did it as a play off of something famous and you are dumb for being a Michael Moore fan
wow you're a jerk- I happen to be a Michael Moore fan. And yes, he did play off the title of the book we're talking about and it worked very well for him. DUCK, do you have anything published?? Don't be so harsh... it's okay to say you don't like Michael Moore but it's not okay to call other people dumb because they do.
me having anything published is COMPLETELY irrelevant no no, you are dumb if you are a fan of Michael Moore, or a total **** it's that simple you cna be a fan of My Chemical Romance or whatever the fuck and that would just be personal preference, but Michael Moore is completely misleading you, you are naive and dumb
thanks for your opinion, but i happen to disagree. i am neither naive or dumb. i happen to have a masters degree in english/film.
I happened to quite like the book, actually, thanks for rudely stating your opinion, though. Umm, did I SAY I was a Micheal Moore fan? No. And I'm not, so you're retarded comment about me being dumb, is completely irrelevant. Thanks for being an idiot.
that first part was not rude at all this part sure, but not the first part you are still dumb for thinking that he actually had reaon other than getting attention for how he named the movie I am sorry for assuming you are a fan however, that was quite a horrible thing to assume
I didn't think ANYTHING about Michel Moore, and why he named his movie after the book. I ASKED why. My exact words were, "Also, does anyone know why Micheal Moore chose to name his movie after this book??" How that gave you the idea that I like him, or that I had any sort of opinion about why he chose the name, is beyond me. I asked why, I didn't state any opinion about it.
I wasn't thinking of any possibilities, truthfully. Just thought I'd ask why, wondering if there was some sort of significance to it. I've never seen Farenheit 911, so I wouldn't know if there is or not.
i read it over the summer for my english honors class that i'm currently in. i liked it, but it definitely wasn't the best book i've ever read. My favourite character was Clarise (that was her name, yes? if not, it was something of that nature). The thing about Bradbury is that i think he wrote for TV, so his books are relatively short. Hence, Fahrenhiet is only something like 200 pages, more or less. What do you think of it as of now?
if you liked that one, maybe you'll like 1984. It was somewhat similar, and i liked it more than Fahrenhiet, but it's just an opinion.
