joey has found her hands! she's been kinda working on them, sometimes staring at it like she didn't know what it was. but she SEES it, she AIMS it, and she drags things into her mouth if at all possible.

but i'm afraid she's cutting her teeth. that or they're just kinda preparing to move in. i can see the lower gum swelling already, adn she chews the silver teething ring like CRAZY. and she bites down on my booby and rubs her gums together. it's painful.

Ahhh, teething. I'm so glad that we're past that stage! My oldest son was horrible when it came to teething, and my twins, well, they weren't much better and the crying seemed to be in stereo with both of them at it during the same time. Thank goodness that's over with!

Myna, Jim has started doing that too, 'gritting' his gums together. Yeeeouch! And when he's angry, he'll get a good grip and yank on it! What do I do to make him stop it?

As far as the teething on the breast thing, Martha Sears says that the best way to get them to stop is when they start to do that, hold them closer to yourself, almost smothering them. They can still breathe, but they have to let go in order to suck or get comfy. No experience with it yet, but that's what I heard. *shrugs*

Rub the gums before the baby nurses. When their gums are irritated, they feel a tingling sensation when they suckle so they bite down to stop the tingling. If you rub the gums before baby will have a counter irritant and then not bite...........as much.

    Good luck. :)
