I guess they found colon polyps and they ned to go in there and do another colonscopy to remove them...but they wouldn't tell me why they needed to remove them and I'm no longer having rectal bleeding so I don't see the point. Has anyone had these and did they have to remove them? They said they needed to biopsy them too. Are they cancerous, what causes them?

nevermind actually talked to my professor about it today and his dad had them and they were benign. I think I know what caused them and my blood tests show that I'm getting healthier and healthier so them being benign is almost certain.

Most polyps are benign to begin with, but some, if left alone, will develop into cancer. That's why you need to have them removed. You won't even know it's been done. It's just a part of the colonoscopy. I am a polyp making machine. I have to have this done every one or two years. Blech!

But I have to say - You are so young to be having these! I mean they recommend a colonoscopy at 50! You are lucky they have found them so early. And you'll probably end up on the frequent flier plan like me. [IMG]

Your doctor(s) haven't informed you about the proper dietary changes to reduce/eliminate the formation of polyps?

well this is soooo gross but I battled bulimia since I was 13, anorexia untill I was 18 and I abused laxatives a lot in high school and it's catching up with me now at 24 when I'm right int he middle of my weight height range, am finally eating healthy and yeah. I have ulcers and polyps and just all kinds of gross stuff. we found out all of it from me having jaundice from ebstein barr actually...so some things are a blessing in disguise.

i had a colonoscopy already and am having the throat one again on the 8th when they do my colonocopy again...yeah I'm on a new healthy life style...no more of this!!!!!!!
    why do you get polyps?

Eating apples helps. And reducing fat intake, etc. No matter for me. In one years time, I form 15 - 20 polyps. They found mine from me having bleeding (a stomach ulcer) 5 years ago and were doing all the tests you've had done. Some would have been cancerous if I had waited for the age 50 colonoscopy, so for me it was a blessing to find them early and to keep taking them off. My mom had polyps, too and my maternal grandmother had colon cancer, so I wonder if there is some heredity crap involved.

STOP EATING MEAT! It ROTS in your body! Your chances of developing colon cancer drops drastically with the elimination of meat and dairy from your diet. I'll get some scientific evidence to back myself up.

I DONT EAT MEAT IVE NEVER HAD BEEF OR PORK IN MY LIFE AND HAVE HAD CHICKEN OR TURKEY A HANDFUL OF TIMES. I eat all lowfat dairy and that's just the probiotic kind...which is why I never get y....t infections or weird odors like my friends do. it's strictly because i sbused laxitives in high school and lack of fiber in the past and my weight going way down and way up for a long time. but I am at a healthy weight now and have a really good 60 percent produce diet going and eat completley oragnicly so yeah this will be the last time I am EVER sick again.

But shit (no pun intended) colonoscopies are like a free colonic lol. not really but still it's nice to step on the scale after a coloscopy
