Know why? The FUCKFACED WHORE covered In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel, one of the best songs EVER! What's more... HE MADE IT TOTALLY FUCKING UNLISTENABLE!!! BASTARD FUCKFACE!!! AND THEN he put it on the OC, WHAT A FUCKING COCK!
I still say the worst thing ever to happen to music is Sid Vicous' cover of I Did It My Way (plus Goodfellas would have been absolutely perfect if it wasn't for that)
you dont know how much this pisses me off man...i think anyone who decides to do that deserves to be shot! neutral milk hotel songs do not belong in the OC...fuckin asshole. not right at all! it is one of my favorite songs! the whole album is brilliant!! but god...fuck him indeed. i think he is coming/came here...so glad i decided not to go.
I'm not wrong, whiney alternacrap must die. But I respect yours Keep in mind you DID use the term "f*ckfaced whore" so I am entitled to be a bit harsh with my opinion...
I agree with Iron Goth, I like Matt Pond's better... 1) he can sing 2) you realise that neutural milk would have had to agree to let their song be used (unless they dind't own the rights) and they probobly got some royalties from it being used...
i finally listened to matt ponds version. its not as bad as i thought it would be, but i still prefer neutral milk hotels version much more over any cover, it just cant be the same. i still think its ridiculous that they decided to put that song on the OC...just doesnt make much sense to me at all.
they'll put just about anyhitng on the OC. One thing I will credit that show with though is giving half-decent bands a "nudge through the door" to get noticed...
if it wernet for this internet... i wouldnt have known.. .now ihave investigated and it makes me upset if i dndnt ahve the internet i wouldnt have known... to bad tv sucks anyways but thats our generations dictated culture
even if they do own the rights, i do believe anyone can cover their song and use it however they want, theyll just get a bit of the money made off the song. if they dont own the rights (not sure if they do or do not) NMH's version would probably be the one on the show i bet, as that's one of the single greatest songs of the 90s, regardless of what irongoth says.
Some of you are such idiots. First off, I like Neutral Milk Hotel, but Jeff Magnum's really not that big of a fucking genius. I feel like everyone calls Airplane Over The Sea a masterpiece (The cd, I mean) because one person declared it to be and everyone just began to follow. And okay, big fucking deal, it was on put on the OC. In fact, I've heard they put a lot of good shit on the OC. I've never seen more than the commercials for the show, but I have no problem with talented, obscure bands/singers having some exposure. I mean, c'mon, people, it's really not fair what's deemed as good and popular out in the mainstream; why is it so hard to accept that they're playing on the OC, afraid of losing your elitist titles to a bunch of kids living in the suburbia who also jam to Blink 182? A lot of these incredible underground bands have a lot of trouble making money and have to keep their day jobs. In turn, they can't always continue to create the music and you never hear from them again. So, big deal if they become popular and move to big record labels? It's when they stop making the music for themselves and start making music to hold onto their popularity when the music is truly dead. Seriously, shut the hell up and stop telling others that their opinions are wrong, because when it comes down to it, Matt Pond isn't really that great, and Neutral Milk Hotel was vastly overrated.
I don't have a problem with it being on the OC, more with the fact that the cover sounds like shit. Of course NMH are overrated, probably by me more than most people, but I DO love that band, same with Pavement. I give both more credit than they probably deserve, but whenever I hear their music I can't help but smile.
This could be true, but I am unsure. The reason I said what I did is that I remember seeing an interview with an up-and-comming musician on some entertainment show who has a cover of Revolution, and he wanted to put it on his album, but he needed McCartney's and Ono's permission first so he sent them a recording of it. What i was refering to was putting covers on records, of course you can just cover any song whenever...
Haha, well, he does suck, and lets be honest, if any OC fan goes off to get his record, they'll have no idea who Neutral Milk Hotel are.
