I bought a R.waite tarot deck for my girlfreind recently, she randomly chose it from a samples book,I've never had a tarot deck myself, so I'm not exactly experienced at the interpretation, but I've done myself enough readings and just gone by intuition to have my own ideas about the cards. This deck though honestly refused to give out any other cards than these- Death, The Tower, The Devil, The Hanging man, the 10(?) of swords (with a picture of a corpse run through by ten swords) and the seven? of swords (with a picture of a figure sitting up in bed screaming below swords on the wall) for hours. Just those cards again and again. It was freaky. The tower especially, jumped out of the deck while shuffling, and almost exclusively came out if you only chose one card. We tried different spreads, questions, shuffling techniques. It made no difference.Hundreds of cards in all we must have drawn, and only very occasionaly would any other cards come out. She became so obsessed with drawing the cards. Always drawing the tower again and again that she would not turn her head away even to talk to me. After hours It got to the point that I put parrafin on her spread and torched the deck. I shouldn't have I know but she wouldn't stop. It was scary. Any interpretations of those cards together? Or other sinister divination stories.
It has happened to me that I draw the same card, but now I just do one spread at a time. It could be that after pulling the card, you thought of it as you tried the different spreds and that's why it came up all the time, because it was on your mind. Tarot cards are supposed to give you an option, in no means is it a sure way.
Maybe you have a spirit in the house. Did she just buy them and start using them? Or did she do prepatory work on them? (Smudging, sleeping with them under a pillow, storing them in a new silk pouch). All those cards seem to imply catastrophy and ruin.
It's a bit like that episode of Father Ted where Ted goes to a fortune teller with Father Dougal and she reads Ted's tarot. Three cards are placed in front of Ted and he is asked to turn them over one after another: Card 1) Death TED: Ah feck! That's not good! TELLER: Don't worry, it all depends on its relation to the next card. Card 2) Death TED: Ah Jaysus! TELLER: Sure there's another one to go. It'll depend on that. Don't worry. Card 3) Death TED: *gasps* TELLER: That's weird; there's only supposed to be one in every deck!!
I read the card and I can tell you this, the cards knows what you are feeling. It has a way of playing games with you too. If you want to know more about tarot stop by. http://therose723.tripod.com http://therose723.proboards58.com/index.cgi?board=general I have answers.
your girlfriend is facing some big BIG changes in her life soon. You shouldn't have burned the cards, they are just a tool. That's like killing the messenger because you didn't like the news he brought. The reason the same cards kept coming up is because she wasn't paying attention or taking it seriously.
Clearly, the following happened: -The cards can fortell the future -The cards, obviously, could tell you were going to burn them -The cards messed with your head -You burned them! I'm not exactly being serious here, lol... But this said, mystical teaching says you gotta RESPECT the cards if you're going to give them a go. Sorry to say it man, but sending them up in smoke isn't exactly the most respectful way to treat them, now is it?!
i wouldnt call that a bad draw....all that means is there are some huge changes that need to take place and the cards are sending the message that she needs to let go and accept change. the devil card means these changes are going to be largely internal. it is nessesary for her to face her demons.
The death card isn't a scary evil thing like most people think it is. Like everyone said above it just means a big change. Not a big deal. If you had said how the cards were in relation to each other we could probably give you a better reading... But burning them wasn't nessisary. I mean the reason why the cards kept comming up was because they were reading the future... and if they kept saying something differnt everytime then how accurate do you think they'll be? Cards coming up the same after a second draw is perfectly natural (or if you decide to do it again and again). Just do it once. I remember I had a time where I thought it was compleatly wrong and it was SO right (the cards kept drawing up the same over and over). Don't do tarot cards and read your future if you don't want to know, ya know? I doubt the thing is possessed or whatever so just relax.
I know I shouldn't have burnt the cards. Very disrespectful. It wasn't so much the cards themselves that freaked me out but her reaction to them (complete obsessive repetition of the same reading for hours). I'm always happy to find continuity in readings, but when the questions are different I do find it disconcerting to have the same answer repeated. Kinda like that was the only important question we should have been asking. You all talk about change but the thing I think your sidestepping is that the kind of change indicated is destruction and ruination of one thing, perhaps to make way for another, greater thing, but still. It doesn't look pretty in the short term. Archemetis' interpretation rang the most true for me. I think the changes she must undergo will be gruelling, and it is this hardship that is reflected in the dark imagery of all of those cards. Like I said i should never have burnt a tarot deck, or a gift to a loved one, so I replaced the deck recently, and am encouraging her to prepare, and bond with the cards better. I asked the deck the other morning, which way up the lovers should be to represent us. (Having the reversal in mind to signify a bad-match or destructive union.) I only took one card out of all 78 and it was the lovers, right way up. I thought that was beautiful. Do you think the tarot reflect your own thoughts and insticts, or are they a medium for some kind of divine communication?
both, because they are one and the same. well, not exactly... the only way I have ever encountered the divine is through introspection, looking within myself. peace
i'm a professional tarot reader and the total silliness of the topic of this thread is making my head hurt.
Can i please put my two cents in, okay? alright, i think whats going on here is that to much focus is being put into a few cards. its possible (and likely) that your tricking yourself into pulling the same cards on a subconcious basis. as for a "spiritual" basis, even if a card (or cards) do seem negative, thats not always neccesarily the truth, being that the impression you give is the impression recieved by others, so only you would know that. No, im not a professional tarot whatchamacallit (excuse my french) but take advise as it comes. another possibility is the the cards themselves could be tainted. By any chance did you let another touch the cards, leaving a (let just say impression,no criticism need) impression upon them that could possibly be negative, dampening, or warping your own ( ill just go with vibrations, yeah) Vibrations. just a few possibilities. yeah im done, can i have my two cents back now, or a reply?
I believe it is very important to cleanse and charge up your deck before you use it. Any readings you do with an unclean deck are usually rubbish. I have been teaching the tarot for a number of years and have seen this happen often.
i bought a gorgeous deck that says NOTHING except "give me to susan." go figure. she's coming over today. i'm giving it to her. who am i to argue?
