You could try your hand at Chain Maille Jewelry. :) It's pretty inexpensive to get started. Basically you need a spool of 20 guage galvanized steel wire from a hardware store, a screwdriver, channellock wire cutters (smaller ones), and two pairs of flat nose pliers. All of the supplies are available at any larger hardware store, like Home Depot or Lowes, but should be easy to find at any hardware store.

So basically you wrap the wire around the pliers to make a long coil, then cut down the coil one ring at a time to make jump rings. Once you have enough you can go to this website and get tutorials on the different weaves and pictures of what other people have done.

If you like doing it then you can graduate to buying you links pre made in Stainless steel from this company: http://www.theringlord.com/ . It can be really theraputic, and it is fun to come up with new designs. The possibilities are endless.

Mostly I make chokers, but you can make earings and bracelets and anklets, keychains, or if you really get abitious a whole piece of clothing. (never done that myself). Enjoy!

wow, interesting. i'll try my hand at it once i get some spare cash.

this reminds me of something, my cousin was a big mideval fan, and he made an armor thing out of pepsi can tabs, it was pretty impressive.
