i've spent most of the day trying to organize this huge walk in closet that we store random stuff in. i have realized that we truly have entirely too much shit. i give things away all the time, and donate stuff to charity, and still we have more stuff than we have places to put it. i want to get rid of some of this crap, but i don't even know where to begin.

does anyone else have this problem?

i used to be really bad about hoarding shoes and clothes, but not so much anymore. now i just seem to have a problem with everything else.

an example, i realized this morning that i owned 45 bottles of nail polish...i could open my own nail salon, lol. i threw away about half of them. i still have too many.

i have old college textbooks, from several years ago. i have no idea why i still have em. God knows i'm not going to read them again.

    etc etc etc

i hate to think that i am so materialistic, but i guess i am. ick.

I know just what you mean. I have way more stuff that I need and the day that I have to move out is going to be the worst day of my life.

I keep leaving things out on the curb for the homeless or whoever to take away (and whatever I put out there is gone in about 5 minutes) but it doesn't seem to be helping.

I'm trying to limit the amount of shit I have here in my apartment in Japan. It's not easy. I'm moving in the next month... and I might be moving another time, so I have to really limit my shit. In my room at my family's house, I've got far too much shit... and the worse part of having too much shit is I can't decide what to throw out.

i'm a bit of a pack-rat.......i always keep random things, well not so random things as well because i just know i'll need them sometime down the road, at least that is what i try to tell myself......

i am not as bad as my great-grandfather....who apparently instilled the pack-rat gene in many of my family members.....the man was so bad he had one side of the bed he sleeped in and the other side was just filled with senseless junk......when he died, my relatives went through his house, trying to clean it, they found money in old birthday cards, tons of old newspapers, just all sorts of random junk.....
i am glad i can part with stuff......there is some stuff that i could get rid of right now, but i figure when i move.....i'll eliminate a lot of stuff that way....

I have moved about ten times in the last eight years, so I always end up eliminating junk everytime. Right now, I have 3 boxes of random junk, but it used to be 10. All of my stuff is in storage now as I haven't decided where I wish to settle down for awhile next. I'm sure when I make that move, I'll further reduce my junkload.

we get rid of stuff every time we move, but it seem's like we just end up getting more stuff to replace it.

i don't think we have as much crap as we used to. when we got married, we had a 3 bedroom house and a 2 car garage packed full of shit. then we had an apartment and a large storage. now we just have a large 2 bedroom apartment.

i am always envious of people who have a minimalist organized lifestyle. i aspire to that, but i'm not sure i'll ever get there.
