my mom named me after her sisters. my first name is lisa, after my crazy aunt. my middle name is diane, after my mean aunt.
My dad always said that he would name his first child Laetitia, if she was a girl. Laetitia is a latin word, and it means "joy"
I was names after my great grandmother, Paula. Pavel is also a contrast to my brother's name, Maxim. Pavel meaning small, as in "small brother", and Maxim meaning big, as in "big brother"... (Greek)
I have no idea where they came up with Gary...maybe it was their auto mechanic..my middle name Joseph is from both of my russian great grandfathers. I was going to be either Ivan or Lauren...no idea why.
it was my dad's stupid idea. i think they also sort of named me after the actress jessica lange, because i was born on her birthday.
haha. never got told that one before. my name fits a lot of things like that. maryanne= gilligan's island.. mary sue= fifties .... etc. etc.
ok, hahah i got named after my dads dear pet mouse when he was a kid, and her name was meg, so my first name is megan, and he wanted to call me rae, as my first name, but my mom wouldn't let him, so i'm megan rae......but i go by meg*. or moonjava seed which is what he also calls me.
My mom wanted to name me "Elliot". Anyway, there was this movie where this young couple get a ride from an old woman and the girl puts a pillow or something under her shirt to look pregnant. So when the old woman asks what they want to name the baby, she replies "if it's a girl, (don't remember what name it was), and if it's a boy, Elliot" and her boyfriend says something like "Elliot? That's some fat kid with glasses. How about Nick? Nick's your buddy, he doesn't mind if you puke in his car". My dad then decided I should be named Nick, since he wasn't too keen on having a son named Elliot. I should mention that my full name is Nick, not Nicholas.
Katherine - It was my grandmother's middle name. Angela - My mom liked the name. Edit: My dad had joked with everyone that he was going to name me Studly Hungwell if I had been born male. I think the actual name he picked out was worse - Melvin. Who names their son Melvin? ICK!
My mom wanted to name me Elliot. Anyway, there was this movie where this young couple get a ride from an old woman, after the girl has shoved a pillow or some such thing up her shirt to appear pregnant. At some point the old woman asks what they'll be naming the baby, and the girl says "if it's a girl (don't remember the name), and if it's a boy... Elliot". Her boyfriend replies something like "Elliot? Elliot is some fat kid with glasses. How about Nick? Nicks your buddy, he doesn't mind if you puke in his car; Nick." My dad decided I should be named Nick after seeing that. By the way, I should point out my full name is Nick, not Nicholas.
jessicas are pretty much always sexy. kinda like jennifers. all jennifers are cute, and usually pretty horny. you gotta love the jennifers. btw, my full first name is actually K.C. go figure.
My mom watched this romance movie when she was younger and loved the name and my dad wanted to name me something spanish, so it worked out for both of them.
It's kinda ironic how my folks picked my name.... Some sitcome from the 70's - the name temporarily slips my mind - of sister witches, one was named Sabrina. They thought it was unique so that's where my name came from. The reason why it's so ironic, at least I think so: My family is ridgidly catholic, many of you likely read my rants... and they're freaking out because I'm now a Wiccan, in essence, a witch. Eerie.
My parents thought I was going to be a boy up until right before I was born, so they pre-named me Nicholas. *blah* My mom was in love with Crystal Gayle, so I believe that was where I aquired my first name, and my middle name came from my mom's favorite aunt.
