I've never used BearShare. I thought it had Spyware bundled with it, but I could be wrong. I'm currently using Cabos, Ares, and DC++
I was wrong about BearShare. Apparently it used to have some type of spyware bundled with it, but it has since been removed. I've been testing out Bearshare Lite. It's a pretty decent alternative to Cabos for the Gnutella network. It's not as fast, but it finds more files and sources.
Not exactly true Mike. Bearshare STILL has spyware bundled with it. But! It can be uninstalled. (MUST look in Docs/settings for an installer! after you uninstall.) I still run Bearshare. Kazaa lite ++ seems to be down though. Ares is still up obviously.
To avoid the adware while potentially generating increased results over the ad supported/lite versions try 5.1.0 beta25 English (last officially released beta - Sept 2005) using BearStart . re: http://www.technutopia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75 http://www.technutopia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2002 ~~~~ Here's some interesting, if not disturbing, reading... http://www.technutopia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2064
overdonkey was just taken down, i been using that for years...but the sister program Overnet is still running strong i love it.
I haven't used BearShare for years. Limewire is a better alternative. But my personal favorite is KLite, just downloaded a few things this morning.
