Ok, I'm mainly looking for mail order fabric places or bead places. What are the best? Best prices, best selection etc. I got some fabrics at JoAnn's last week and went to Discount Mardens and got a ton of unique prints at a good deal. They're kind of a junk store here in Maine, but they sell the expensive quilting fabric for under $3.00 a yard. I don't live near and fabric stores or any place that have beads. I have looked everywhere for knit fabric too specifically printed knits. JoAnns didn't have much and what they did have was $7.00 or more a yard, Marden's had some crappy pink knit. I'd like to make some t-shirts.
Denver fabrics is a nice place to look for knits. They have cotton knits for under 5 bucks a yard. They even have tie-dye knits. http://www.denverfabrics.com If you are looking for cotton prints or solids online I have several good sources for them... http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/ http://www.equilter.com/ http://www.reprodepotfabrics.com/ Those are all I can think of off the top of my head but at least it's a place to start.
Denver fabrics has really nice stuff. THe outlet is close by, so if you want a pair of critical eyes before ordering, let me know.
Thanks and thank you drumminmama. I signed up for Joann's email newsletter and got free shipping on an order of $25 or more.
I'll second eQuilter.com. The fabrics are great. A bit pricey but worth every penny. And they have sales all the time. You can get on their mailing list. I also like the fact that a portion of the profits from each sale goes to charity. And you get to choose which charity from their list you want to send to. Kathi
I know everyone hates walmart, but I was looking at eQuilter.com. Walmart has the same Elvis fabric for $4. something a yard that they sell for $7.50. They have some pretty batiks but I could never afford them at $29.00 a yard. Walmart has a lot of the same fabrics cheaper, although they're selection has dwindled. If you're making things to sell price is really important.
Have you tried www.firemountaingems.com for your beads? Thats where I get mine from. I think they have the best selection I've seen so far. Good luck
DEFINATLY A GREAT PLACE FOR BEADS AND THEIR SHIPPING IS WICKED FAST, AND EVEN BETTER IS THEIR 900 AND SOME ODD PAGE CATALOGE IS FREE!!
I am a Fire Mountain Gems addict!!!! When the new catalog comes in the mail, I am such a dork, I swear I just want to be alone with it for a while and make plans. The prices are (I'm so sorry, local bead lady) really reasonable. A word of advice though, don't check it out when you're broke!
Oh yes I've bought plenty from fire mountain gems. I only wish they had surgical steel earwires and some non-silver metal earrings parts. I use sterling, but I like to make some less expensive jewelry too.
Rio Grande is a great place to get surgical steel findings. their catalog is also free. Although you have to get the catalog in order to buy from them. http://www.riogrande.com/ You can request a catalog there. I lied.... Rio's catalog is 10 bucks, but once you place an order they will send you the next one for free.
