i am just going to rant and rave here, because i can i am a week overdue and have tried EVERYTHING(castor oil, sex, enema, nipple stimulation, walking) to no avail. i am about to lose my cool-or maybe i already have! i am so sick of people telling me "oh whenever it happens it happens" these people have obviously never gone past their dates. like my midwife who had all of hers 3 weeks early. i know it is true, but i am just getting sick of hearing it, and getting all of the "have that baby already" comments. i just want to spit at the people who tell me that. with my daughter, i had been dialated to 3cm for 2weeks before her date, and then the doc tried sweeping my membranes, prostaglandin gel, and enema--nothing worked! so he told me to come in 4 days later and he broke my water and everything went wonderfully smooth from there. are there cases where some women's bodies just NEED that extra help? like maybe my body just doesn't know how to go into labor without a little help? we are having this one at home, so there is no way the midwife is going to break my waters, but man i am just MISERABLE! any other mom's out there who went through this and please tell me how i am supposed to cope--and with a 4 year old to deal with all day when all i feel like doing is running away? thank you everybody --sweetpeace
you could try eating pineapple and drinking rosehip tea...ive heard those can get contractions starting if eaten in large amounts, i feel for you, im only 24 weeks and i cant wait for my boy to be here, lol, so you must be at your wits end, is there anyone who can take your daughter for a few hours to give you a chance to chill out for a while, even just relaxing in the bath without pressure for a bit might let you relax enough for it to start, failing that, a blazing argument with a signifigant other may help...i was born a week early 8 hours after one, lol. goodluck, hope it all goes well for you.xxx
Try drinking raspberry leaf tea, &/or Pregnancy tea from Traditional Medicinals. I drank a whole box of raspberry leaf tea and started contracting that very night! Good luck!
Baby will come when baby wants to. Nothing nobody can do about it really. Most cases of baby coming is usually a coincidence or just babies time unless you are pron to pre term labour then you are not advised to have sex. lol frankly I dont think you have that problem lol (hugs to you) My son was about the same......
Whenever I have this problem I just think about baseball... ...o wait a minute sorry, wrong thread best a luck to you miss - i'm sure it will all be worth it.
i thank you all for your advice. i want to get some blue cohosh cuz i heard that it helps. i have been having mild contractions for the past week and a half, but they just go away. i think i just need something to get me going steadily. i heard that a long walk on uneven ground does it, but i am so exhausted that i can barely get up and walk across the house! i will try the raspberry leaf tea tonight. i usually have a cup a day of that or pregnancy tea, but i didn't know high doses may get things moving. i am so desperate. i am losing my mind, and i am sure the stress of not being able to do anything around the house isn't helping. i just want to sleep forever/!!!! well i will keep you all posted. i am sure it will be awhile. sweetpeace
I can so relate to this thread. All of my children were late to some degree. My daughter was the worst. She was due on May 3 and born on May 30. And it was the hottest May in history that year. I sat miserablly between an air conditioner and a fan for the entire month. I tried castor oil and it just made me throw up. Nothing worked for me until the baby was ready. I haven't heard of very many 12 month pregnancies so I'm sure your little one will come soon. Here's to a speedy and safe deliver. Kathi
I just wanted to say hang in there! ) My friend Sally drove herself mad at the end of her pregnancy and she felt patronised by people that keep saying the baby will arrive when it wants to. I've had a quick look on the internet and some of the old wives tales advise you to do the following: Sex, Herbal teas, nipple stimulation, castor oil, eat spicy foods, walk, acupressure or take a drive on a rough/bumpy road. Here's the link: http://www.oldwivestales.net/QandAarticle1131.html Good luck and may the contractions be with you Love and peace x
I hope that by the time I post this you're already holding your new baby. I can sympathize. Toward the end of my pregnancies I screened all my calls because I didn't want to have that fu*&ing 'When is that baby going to be here?' talk again.
mine was over. I was dialeted for 3 weeks as well. I was induced because I had toxemia. Otherwise I would have waited it out. It sux. But enjoy the last few days of sleep while you can haha. Seriously.
well i tried the blue cohosh tonight, went for a long walk up and down hills, and so far absolutely NOTHING. maybe tonight. and the last person to be due around the same time as me just had her baby today. that makes 4 people, 2 of whom were due after me, who have had their babies. yes, i am screening my calls because of the people who call, thinking that if i had it i wouldn't have told them. like my mom. or the lady across the street who will look at me and say "would you have that baby already?" EVERY day, like i am holding it in on purpose. my daughter was 9lbs and 4 days late, so this one is definately not going to be any smaller. i feel like it gains about a pound a day, so i think it will be at least 14 lbs oh i am so crabby. very edgy, a miserable mother and wife. if my daughter were older, she probably would have run away by now. keep me in your prayers. i know that i won't be pregnant forever, but knowing that does not make things any easier. thanks everyone for letting me rant and rave!!! it is very nice to be able to vent.--sweetpeace
I remember trying everything too. Nipple stimulation and masterbation is supose to help induce contractions too. (hehe or so I have heard)
hehe applespark, orgasms are giving me terrible braxton hicks at the moment...really bad timing too cos it kinda spoils the moment when i have to roll over and start huffing to cope with the cramps, lol.
