Anyone heard of them? The only song I can find of theirs is 96 Tears, which is a shame. They were one of the first true garage bands of the 60's to have a successful single too.
yes I have heard of them. question mark believed that he was an alien life form. 96 tears was also originally called 69 tears, but the record company urged them to change the number, because of course that number has sexual connotations.
? is kinda like the original Prince, in that he is very quirky and sexual (like the original title of "96 Tears"). I saw a recent interview with him and he said things like "I was alive on Mars millions of years ago. I've seen the future." I dunno if it was cause of acid or what but man imagine all of the quirky people he has influenced.
its great that people keep this music going still. ? and the Mysterians are great, you just have to look past 96 tears (only due to popularity, cause it still is a really good song). They were creative i think because they tried new things and dared to be bold [69 tears lol]. MAy the 60's never die man!!! LOL, its true though
ive got two of their albums too. i think only one in an official album. the music machine did a cover of "96 tears" that i think is better than the ? version. you can also get a CD of ? and the mysterians that they made more recently when they reformed. i think they still play gigs even these days.
I have heard of them but can not find them!! I have lots of (rare) psych/garage but this is one band I have yet to track down..shame cos they sound intriguing.
Didn't they used to parade around the t.v. studios with hoods on with giant question marks embossed?. I have only heard: '96 Tears' as well- but what a superb bluesy rocker it is!!.
? mark aka; Rudy Martinez is still out there playing in the Texas area. I think two other original members are with him still and he sounds pretty close to his old lp voice. His life has been one of a strange sort and yes he claims to be from Mars and put here to Rock n Roll. They do have a web site and any search will direct you there, one note of trivia for you: Mel Schacher bassist for Grand Funk Railroad once played a part as a member of ? Mark and the Mysterians.. Pretty cool huh. Peace In Music...
