hey, i've got some pretty fat and aesome dreadies cuz i let them go naturally. however, theres a really big one right above my ear where alot of my sensitve hair is. the weight can really hurt sometimes so i was thinkin of splitting it to relieve the pull of it. any suggestions on how to do this? thanks you guys, i'll put up some pics sometime....

if its not too locked you can pull it apart, otherwise you can cut it but this is risky because sometimes it will destroy the whole dread.

if your riping it apart do it in the shower or when really wet i find it helps them rip easer and not hurt as much

rip and twist is what I've been doing the past couple of days to sort out some dreads that are combining or too fat but my dreads aren't locked up tight yet. I just grab the dread at the root, and rip apart into two sections and then twist each section and try and make sure they don't join again at the top.
