I am just curious if, in light of recent developments, people who were Bush supporters still stand behind their man. I mean, when Bush was elected I could see how people, not knowing any better, might support him thinking that he would keep America safe, limit abortion rights and build our economy through a conservative, pro-business philosophy. So I just assumed that his supporters just didn't know better. Now that Bush has effectively made us the most despised nation in the world, now that he has weakened every relationship we had with Europe, with Asia, with the Middle East... Now that he has pulled us into a religious civil war with almost certainly fabricated intelligence... Now that Cheney has been fingered as approving the dissimination of classified material... Now that he has admitted secret spying programs... Now thathe has dropped the ball on Katrin, dropped the ball on the PR side of selling our port authority management to an Arabian government... do you still support him? Does any of this make people want to rip their W'06 sticker off the back of their car? I still see those around and I for one, even if I had supported him, would be getting out the old razor blad and scraping that sticker off fast.
Yes, I still support President Bush, even though I did not agree with the ports deal. There are more Bush backers than people know. Not everyone takes part in his opinion polls. And I do not blame him for what happened with Katrina. It was FEMA that messed up. The fact that Bush was blamed is a sign of just how desperate the left has become.
The remaining Bush Cult types seem to have a "faith-based" take on the president. They simply Have Faith. No matter what evidence is shown- it will never matter. Talk about the raid on the treasury, the LIES about Iraq and Iran, or the incompetents put in charge of Katrina relief as a political payoff and payback, and it's like trying to teach a cat to play guitar. Jesus Christ, you know, that guy who Walks With Us and Talks With Us, and is our Co-Pilot? He washes away all our sins if only we Accept Him As Our Personal Lord And Savior? The imaginary "God" guy in the sky that will give you eternal life if you suck up to him? Just believe in Bush in the same way- he is Our Leader, and will bring us Greatness and Glory as we conquer the evil hords of Brown Tursts. Or else them Tursts will Get Us. This is a faith-based administration, so one must have faith in Our Leader, who is a Man Of Faith too. Do not hesitate when you feel doubt, and don't let unsettling facts clutter up one's Vision Of Faith. Just Have Faith. Because conservatism is right and good. Always. So just have faith, and everything will be just fine. "We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield." — George Orwell
never trusted him since his first election; as a free-thinking Texan, I despise everything he tries to present himself as. only really gullible people buy into his "born-again christian" persona, he's a puppet for conservative interest groups and big businesses; all he cares about is money, and keeping it in the pockets of the rich who got him elected to office, he doesn't give a crap about working class minorities or union workers. I have NO love for a politician who loosens environmental restrictions for oil refineries, that's just fucking dispicable. faith-based idiots deserve to be suckered, not the free-thinkers. and if Bush didn't appoint some bonehead who was not qualified for the FEMA director position, and had no experience with dealing with catastrophes (the former director, who clinton appointed, quit as soon as Bush got into office...he had experience, and did a good job) , that whole FEMA fiasco wouldn't have happened in the first place. instead, Bush and his cronies did what they do best... they see a problem over the horizon, and take a vacation. His incompetent decisions speak loud enough, no blaming necessary; it's too bad his current supporters are still in denial. Just the fact that he would get on his soapbox and preach about the need for more national security, and then go pull some shit like try to sell our ports, show how much of a hypocrite this man is, and how his modus operandi revolves around money, regardless if you support him or not.
It is amusing how anyone who supports Bush is immediatly branded a "charlie-church". I havn't been to church in a long time, though I do believe in God. Talk about sterotyping. And liberals are supposed to be progressive how???? And they say you're not a free-thinker if you support Bush. What utter nonesense. You obviously have to think DEEPLY when choosing to support a leader or not. History has taught us that much. It is anti-Bush people who do not take everything into account. They especially do not look at the big picture, in my opinion. It is conservatives who are more progressive, by placing greater value on life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. The truth is that most people who are against Bush are so blinded by hate that they WANT to believe ANYTHING that casts him in a negative light. Most anti-Bush people LOOK for ANYTHING to bring this man down, so they HAVE to sensationalize his every mistake, believe any rumor, buy in to every sterotype, make ANY conspiracy theory, and IGNORE every olive branch! This same thing happened when people tried to bring down Bill Clinton. So much for liberals proving themselves better. I speak for myself when I say I do not blindly follow Bush. I follow what I KNOW is right, as I was raised to do. And Bush just happens to be right (in so many ways). Some say that 'following the leader' in this way is just like how people followed Hitler. NONESENSE. Yes, Hitler wanted to make the world safer by killing all the Jews. But the Jews were doing nothing wrong! Bush wants to kill the terrorists because they ARE doing wrong! That is the difference between Bush and Hitler: Hitler wanted to deprive liberty to everyone, no matter if they did right or wrong. Bush wants to deny liberty to anyone who supports EVIL. And no, your evil does NOT equal Bush's good! He is not put to get anyone who supports the Democratic Party, he's out to get people who support people killing others! Hitler thought anyone who supported Jews were evil. But they were doing nothing wrong! People who support terrorists ARE KILLING people! That is the difference! So who is more likely to be a force for peace and progress in our world: Hitler, who wanted the Aryan race to be masters of the world after exterminating those who do no wrong, or Bush, who wants to defeat an enemy that wants to destroy a country where any religion and any race may live in freedom? And again, I ask, how do liberals claim to be progressive???? People should stop being paranoid and look at the fight Bush is waging: against those who want to kill YOU. Bush isn't trying to harm you, the terrorists are, and that is who Bush is working against, not you. Anyone who thinks Bush is willingly trying to take away our liberties using the terror war as a front is crazy. That would be what the terrorists would WANT to happen, and Bush, nor anyone else in his place, will not allow that. The terrorists want us to live in fear and without liberty. Bush does NOT.
hey, wake up and smell the oil fumes, buddy. fear-mongering is something McCarthy did. Terrorists don't want to deprive us of our freedoms, that's just idiotic and REAL paranoia. Instead of believing everything this man tells you, you should look deeper into what his admin is REALLY trying to do...rake in the big bucks by forcing capitalism and world trade down an ancient culture's throats; if anything, these "terrorists" just want us to withdraw the McDonald's, the KFCs, and the Coca Colas out of their land. Bush is looking to spread the great American Big Business Empire. Castro is still a "bad man", why aren't we trying to wipe out Communism in Cuba?? because they don't have what we want people should stop being brain-washed by Fox nexs, and watch BBC instead.
and for the record, gov't isn't really good too far in either direction, and it's particularly degenerative in the far right; It would probably be best in the moderate-left you want to know how liberal is progressive? take a look at Sweden...you think they have issues with stem cell cloning?? they already have more advanced medical technology than us. Do they need to waste billions on military, or short-change the elderly? We stir up all the hives in the middle-east, no country was going to invade us...and if you think 9/11 was a direct attack on us, and not co-orchestrated by the admin, then you probably also think someone could just hijack any plane and slam it into "the world's most secure building", over a no-fly zone, on any given day, without being shot down. Funny how the admin and media won't even discuss the Pentagon crash anymore. You, sir, have been duped by the grandiose illusion of pseudo-patriotism. but the world is a stage for this dramatic play, in which villains are created, and we are the heroes; not everything is as it seems, kid. Bin Ladin is on the CIA payroll; has been since 1988. As for Dubya..like I said, simply observe his decisions, because they do all the speaking, nobody has to even knock him; takes a real moron to still support such an idiot. He looks like HE doesn't even know what he's doing (because he doesn't...he's just a puppet; his father and Cheney make the executive decisions through him) and I suggest you take a few politics classes, so you'd have a better way of evaluating what's really going on.
desperate to put a halt to incompetent leadership, perhaps. the whole "faith-based" analogy just goes to show that superstition is alive and well, and politicians can count on it to sway support; been that way since the dawn of christianity.
That "faith-based" group will be the downfall of America because it's a large number with democratic power. You don't have to be conservative to be godly, moral, religious, and a believer. Conservatism is a political ideology not a religious one. These same people go on about the founding fathers this and that and yet they don't realize the founding fathers hated religious establishments. "Because religious belief, or non-belief, is such an important part of every person's life, freedom of religion affects every individual. State churches that use government power to support themselves and force their views on persons of other faiths undermine all our civil rights. Moreover, state support of the church tends to make the clergy unresponsive to the people and leads to corruption within religion. Erecting the 'wall of separation between church and state,' therefore, is absolutely essential in a free society. "We have solved ... the great and interesting question whether freedom of religion is compatible with order in government and obedience to the laws. And we have experienced the quiet as well as the comfort which results from leaving every one to profess freely and openly those principles of religion which are the inductions of his own reason and the serious convictions of his own inquiries." Thomas Jefferson "The serious enemies are the priests of the different religious sects, to whose spells on the human mind it's improvement is ominous. Their pulpits are now resounding with denunciations against the appointment of Dr. Cooper whom they charge as Monarchist in opposition to their tritheism. Hostile as these sects are in every other point, to one another, they unite in maintaining their mystical theology against those who believe there is one God only. The Presbyterian clergy are the loudest. The most intolerant of all sects, the most tyrannical, and ambitious; ready at the word of the lawgiver, if such a word could be now obtained, to put the torch to the pile, and to rekindle in this virgin hemisphere, the flames in which their oracle Calvin consumed the poor." Thomas Jefferson
pretty much. and that is why I'm inclined to say "fuck the catholic church" largest denominational sect/cult which still collects money to support their campaign (of salvation).
But I'm not fearful, nor am I a religious bible banger, nor are many who share my views. I am not a person who would allow myself to be controlled or brainwashed. (And to be brainwashed by a news network would be absolutely silly.) True, I have a "faith" of sorts in Bush's mission, just because I have carefully thought about the world situation. I may be young, but I do know history supports my postion. Look at the defeat of fascism in Germany. And now look at the Germans! (And the Japanese!) They are peaceful as all get out! And is there likely to be a war between Geramany and France again ever? Not likely. There is a greater chance they'll probably merge into a larger political entity (the EU) in the next 50 years. Peace and harmony achieved. I dont think anyone would have foreseen that in the 1930's, just as many today are not willing to foresee a peaceful Middle East years from now. I dont "love" Bush. I dont even like being political. But I feel that it is false to think we are trying to push capitalism on the Middle East. I think we are trying to give these people a chance to decide on any way of life they want, by defeating the terrorists agenda, which is: con the people of the Middle East into living in the dark ages, ignorant of what freedom is, and teach them to hate the west so an everlasting Jihad can be waged. Who is to say, after defeating the terrorists, the Iraqi's cant go on living in their traditions? It's just that they will actually have choices! Choices we are fighting to give them!
yeah? so why aren't we in a hurry to free the people of Ethiopia, and bring peace to that region? Why aren't we trying to bring the various tribes of Africa up to speed with developed nations? and what is Bush's mission? notice how we let the Palestinians battle it out with the Israelis, who just took over their (Palestinians) land?? but do we send troops over there to bring peace? why do the Palestinians hate us?? I'll tell you why, not only are we allied with Israel, they hold a LARGE piece of stock in the american economy.
That's because the Middle East is the center of world terror and hatred right now. If we can defeat it there, we can defeat it around the globe. Just as we are trying to do in the Middle East, once terror/fascism is defeated, Africa will have better choices as well, leading to a better life there. Bush has actually done more to help Africa than any other modern President. But it's true, we should also help Africa to be peaceful as well. Waging war on dictatorship is part of the war on terror (the two go hand in hand, and that's one of the causes of the Iraq War people always seem to miss), the world will improve dramatically.
First of all, the way US Aid is implemented doesn't help Africa. Secondly, regardless of any international relations whatsoever, Bush is still a terrible president for running up such a collosal deficit.
*shakes head* justwow, you just don't get it do you? the "war on terror" is a witchhunt, a distraction; has nothing to do with peace. we're not the world police; countries like Venezuela and El Salvador are always having civil wars, and terrorist bombings, but we don't rush in to bring peace; they don't have big business relationships with the united states. Bush wanted to sell our ports to establish a greater flow of opium from Afghanistan (opium production skyrockted after the taliban was ousted...CIA has used drug money to finance black ops, no secret there), and stimulate trade flow through the region in general. money, dude. money.
How could the war on terror be considered a witch hunt? What about 9/11? That was real, and it proved terror was VERY much a reality. Bush wanting drugs to flow into the US? That's absurd. It is true the United States has business with the countries in which we are fighting terror. The thing is, we are fighting to rid those countries of fanatical influence. We fight to make business with these countries based on what is actually good for those countries, not to exploit the terror threat.
*sighs* 9/11 was set up, bro; a fluke, a sham. it proved that a) people could be manipulated by fear b) people could be easily distracted and c) gov't could get away with murder and you obviously know nothing of the CIA. you are in denial of malevolent government.
I dont dispute the fact that fear can control. But I do not believe for a second that 9/11 was set up. Where is the proof? And besides, even if the government would have set it up, why wouldn't they have just nuked a city?
