hey guys... so singing is like my all time favorite thing ever, and i was just wondering who else is? id love to talk about it and its many aspects lol... no but really. alright so ill start- ive been singing since i can remember. my stage frieght is basically non-existant anymore, and i love doing it. however i do have this thing where i will CRY literally right before a show or cry right after. it doesnt matter how good or bad i do (although bad preformances make me basically suicidal) but ill always cry. ill sing anything from opera to english to italtian to spanish to rock... pop... basically anything.
I suck at singing, but I love to do it anyway. I just recorded myself playing/singing a velvet underground song, if you want to hear. http://www.windflower.ath.cx/music/it's_all_right.mp3 I'm trying to get good at singing, but I don't know if I ever will... I started singing when I was playing guitar with my friend who played bass, and we wanted to form a band or something, so i was just like i can try singing. I was actually in my school choir once, but i usually just pretended to sing because everyone was good at letting me know how bad I was. I even tried to go to the interschool competition, but I was the only one who wanted to do it that didn't get to... That actually made me sad. But some of my friends will listen to me sing sometimes and that's the best anyway.
i started singing when i started playing guitar, november of 04 or somewheres around there... i'd learn the chords to a song, then i'd get to where i could play and sing at the same time, then i moved onto another song. i was pretty much completely self-"taught" up until this school year, september, the school choir has been like singing lessons for me, i love it now, probably moreso than playing guitar. i dont know anything about nothin, i just know what sounds good. i cant really sight-read worth a damn, but i dont mind. wooo yeah.
hey mama! I'm a singer too, been doing it since I could talk, even before if you believe my mom's stories, lol. I totaly do the crying thing too! now I just get close acctually, but I find the more nervous I am, the better the show, something about adreneline I think. If you ever want to talk about singing, or music in general let me know, I could talk about singing and music all day every day :0)
I've sang for years, but never really bothered with being any good until fairly recently. I can play many instruments, and I decided I should be able to sing also. I sing for a band doing some rock/folk/blues kind of stuff. I can't always get the support I'd like, especially for blues and stuff. But I'm getting better. Since I have 5+ years experience with guitar, my musical taste is very varied, and I like interesting music. Most of the guitar skills transfer to singing, so I'm pretty good now.
i was told by someone that crying before you sing will really mess you up.... constricts your throat, or something.
I have been functioning as an indepedant recording artist for about 5 years now. Most of my music can be found on www.myspace.com/forwardbound, I don't record to often, and everything on that site is all at least 4 years old. I'm writing a sophmore album at the moment I play guitar, have been since I was 9. I'm not a god, as much as I'd like to say I am, I am not able.
I started singing in middle school and have done the choir thing on and off ever since. In high school I was in the South Carolina All State Chorus. Right now, I basically just sing in the car and in the bathroom and stuff, but I do love singing. I am an alto. I've gotten away from performing, but I occasionally write some lyrics/songs.
I sing enough to give the lead singer an occasional breather and hold up my end of backing vocals. I enjoy it alot, and love the feel of performing live. I'm not great, but I do enough to get by and have fun doing so. Here is a recent recording of me sharing a bit of a duet with our singer, and losing my composure while trying to stay in key! http://www.mindspring.com/~socomfy/websong.mp3
yea, it definitly does. ive postponed preformances by a couple minutes (no biggie) to just chill out because your right- it totally closes your throat and you loose control of the tone and everything. its basically the worst thing to do right before singing, besides smoking.
