Okey Dokey - I've been blowing glass for several years - I've done a few sets of pyrex plugs before for friends, but always custom orders, made to fit their holes and their taste. I think I'm ready to step up, and have some on hand for when people ask. My question to you guys is this: What style (shape, I guess) is your favorite for glass plugs, and what do you think the best, or most common, sizes would be to stock? I've also been thinking about designing a pyrex taper, since it's medical grade glass and carefully made. Something that curls just right so that the weight of the glass, as much as the gauge at any given point, can help a person safely and hygenically stretch their ears. Any feedback you guys can give me would be very appreciated!
first of all, props! as for the typical styles and sizes. all the regular sizes i suppose, and in tunnel, solid plug, single flaired, double flaired, notched tunnel are what i prefer. as for the taper idea, that is definitely an awesome, awesome idea. my piece of advice, anneal those fuckers very very well. i have had pyrex crunch in my freshly pierced lobe. i got my lobes done at 2 gauge, and i was cleaning them in the shower, and CRUNCH, the jewelry shattered. but dude, the pyrex taper is an awesome idea. after you have a couple of them made shoot me a PM (if you remember to) cause i may like to order a few to check out your work. keep this forum posted cause i would definitely like to know how youre coming along.
thats a great idea, I was lucky once and found a pair of single flair but I evewntually went up gauges and could no longer wear them, I looked high and low for a pair of 6 gauge but all i could find was double flairs and i could never get double flairs in so i gave up. Definatly make some single flairs
I first would like to say, I like your work. My hubby does plugs but only when requested. I think I know where you can find answers. Have you ever tried the gldg. It's a lampworking forum my hubby is a member there. Lots of good info!
