I need some help, please, from the bare crowd here.

I have recently developed a heel fissure, and it's so deep that today it started to bleed a little.

What is the best thing to do for this?

I've been trying moisturizing, aloe, buffing, and even some light debriding. A quick google search turned up the additional ideas of super glue (which I had thought of) and taping or wearing a heel cup.

I should add that I swim a lot, and that doesn't help with the dryness problem.

What do all of you bare people recommend?

    Thanks in advance!

I would recomend the superglue. it's worked in the past for me. Try to keep some suppleness and you'll avoid problems in the future. The winter time is bad for dryness drink extra fluids and stay hydrated, in combination with moisturizing you'll be fine in no time.

if its formed around tough skin i would reccomend filing down the skin to kind of give the fissure a even ground to try and heal up

There is a product called New-Skin liquid bandage that's available in most drug stores. I've used it many times for little cuts or splits in the skin on my feet. It smells kind of like fingernail polish and works really well, imo. Other brands of liquid bandages that I've tried, such as Band-Aid, are basically worthless for something like that. New-Skin is also easy to apply, unlike Band-Aid. You just dab it on, give it about a minute to dry, and it seals up the cut and protects it for a long time, usually all day, but you may have to reapply it later depending on how much stress you put on the cut or fissure as you walk or move around.

There are some products in drug stores with names like "Cracked Heel" or some such. I'll go out to the truck and see if I can find one and let you know more about it. Do what the others here have said, and try this stuff. It works.

(I hope it's OK leaving it out in the truck frozen all winter---)

    Thank you all, really :)

I taped things up for a couple of days, and it's feeling much better now.

I plan to try out your recommendations so that I can get this completely healed.

    Thanks again.

I've gotten those, sometimes pretty bad where my skin is soo dry that it won't heal. If that happens, I cover my heals in vasoline, put socks on, and let it soak in overnight.
    :)
