Have any of you guys ever tried Kinnick Kinnick? A few of my friends and I have smoked it several times with a pipe and I will probably try it with a bong soon. I introduced my friends to it shortly after I bought a pack; they had never heard of it, but they have really enjoyed it ever since! It's a really great Native American ceremonial smoking blend that is made up of Yerba Santa, Bearberry, Osha Root, Red Willow Bark, and Mullen. There are different brands that put this mixture out, but the one that I bought from was Native Scents http://www.nativescents.net/ It's cheap and perfectly legal. You can buy an ounce for $5. Hm. Interesting, but I see little point. I don't like smoking just to smoke something, I actually like getting high from the THC in weed. If I had a choice, I'd eat it instead, really. Still, I'm interested in herbal smokes. Just don't wanna hurt my lungs.
wow thats stuiped let me be the first in saying it, come use insence and smoke weed get the best of both worlds, BTW non of that shit will get you high
i dont see how it can get you "high" considering it doesnt have thc..but actually i have heard that it is safe for your lungs as compared to most cigarette smoke...this is a more pure version...its actually the ceremonial mix used generally in native american ceremonies...
It's good for a trance state. It relaxes you and has a pleasant taste. I can't say that it gets you high in the same way that MJ does, but it has it's own unique characteristics and besides, it's not really made just to get you high, it is formulated for reverence, and to aid in clearing the mind, finding tranquility, and not to mention the countless rituals that involve meditation where every aspect of smoking the herbs are symbolic as well as a mental/emotional attainment. It may take a couple of times for you to notice it's effects, but I know that I, myself have enjoyed it. To tell you the truth, other than hydro buds, MJ has never given me some fantastic high, but that is probably because I started practicing meditation long beore I started smoking Marijuana, so I was probably accustomed to some of the effects. And yes, the herbal mixtures have no tobacco and are pretty safe on your lungs. Here is another place where you can find a bunch of different herbal mixtures, some of which may be more powerful. www.ottertrout.com Later, Ben.
kinnick kinnick is a name for a wide variety of blends and plants. bearberry leaves are the most common ingredient and the plant itself, without any admixtures, is sometimes referred to as kinnick kinnick. kinnick kinnick traditionally, most commonly, was any ritual/common smoking mixture used by many north american indigenous peoples. these blends often contain tobacco, though commercially available blends rarely do these days. none of the ingredients listed get you high or produce a tobacco buzz on their own, though they may have some mildly relaxing properties. nothing commercially available can be expected to have pleasant effects without the addition of tobacco or even possibly marijauna. many herbs have potential to produce sedating or drug-like effects, but commercially available herbs rarely will help you obtain said effects. for example things like scotch broom and skullcap are supposed to have tremendous potential for relaxing effects, but almost nobody who buys them online actually achieves these effects. herb merchants rarely wildcraft their herbs, they are grown on a farm or in a garden most often. even if they are wildcrafted, they are rarely treated in a proper manner conducive to producing a high quality product that retains the desired properties of the herbs. with tobacco and marijuana, extensive care must be taken in the drying and curing proccess if you want to end up with a quality product. same is true for ANY herb, and the process for making different herbs ready for consumption can be different according to the individual variety of the plant. lack of understanding this is the main reason that "herbal highs" never work, even if the herbs constituting the blends may indeed have potential to give a relaxing effect. people who sell them are concerned with making money over hyped up herbs, and dont realize that it actually takes WORK to get them ready to ingest. most likely you'll just get herbs that were picked and then quickly dried. then they're sold. no special treatment often means pisspoor quality. nothing is safe to smoke at all. period. these are still plants with many, if not most, of the same components as marijuana or tobacco. they may not have nicotine or thc, but they're still full of chlorophyll, natural waxes, all sorts of other things. the nasty, carcinogenic and otherwise toxic properties of tobacco can hardly be attributed to nicotine itself. almost all the poisonous chemicals found in tobacco smoke are the NATURAL result of chemical changes caused by combustion, even if they are not present in the product prior to lighting them. THC is suspected of having cancer-fighting properties, and marijuana has never been conclusively shown to cause cancer the way tobacco does. that said, you can't expect a plant to be safe to smoke simply because its not tobacco. while it may ->potentially<- be less harsh or less dangerous than smoking tobacco it is NOT correct to assume that it is safe or harmless. most people are only willing to smoke something if they can get some sort of noticible, distinctive, and in their opinion pleasurable drug effect from it. i.e. the feeling of introducing nicotine or THC to the body. many people feel the long term risks of smoking something are tolerable in exchange for the more immediate pleasure of the drugs they're putting in their body. since these plants do not produce a high or buzz, since you have no idea what the quality of the herbs are when you buy online, and since it is unknown exactly how bad they are for you, then it is safe to reason that they are NOT for most of us here. that said, it may be good for a smoker who simply finds the act of smoking pleasurable, relaxing and meditative, but who does not care for nicotine and does not wish to get high. it could be a way to enjoy smoking even when you have something important to do shortly afterwards. i've smoked bearberry, and homemade kinnick-kinnick like mixtures. they're alright. i find it relaxing. it tastes ok. nothing to write home about though and nothing close to a marijuana substitute or a tobacco substitute. it would probably be good to bulk up joints if you dont like mixing tobacco with your pot, or it may be a good admixture to tobacco if you're trying to ween yourself off of the nicotine habit. other than that, i'd say leave it to the natives...i have no use for it, and -most- of you probably don't either.
