On President's Day I drove over to a friend's house. He hadn't picked up his calls in two days. When I arrived his door was locked with the chain. I busted the door in. He was dead... probably for a day or two.

I'm not feeling the effects of my find yet, but I'm sure I will. Has anyone else ever been the one to find a dead person ?

I'm hoping your friend had an easy passing.
Was it a surprise or somewhat expected (chronic disease, etc)?
I have held people while they died, one an overdose, so I think there would be an additional shock with a discovery, esp. a friend.
Sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry for your loss. No I haven't found a person dead. But the human mind sometimes surpreses things like this. I know when I heard that my grampa had died I didn't cry at all! Until it felt real, until I realized that I would never hug him, see him talk to him agian. It will sink in eventually! Theres nothing wrong with not being able to cry we all handle situations like this differently! Again sorry for your loss and I hope you are okay!

Sorry for your loss man, that is terrible. I hope your friend went without pain or suffering. Peace be with you.

I've never found someone dead myself, but when I was a kid, my best friend found my neighbour dead out on his front lawn. He was pointing up at the sky, and had a wide eyed look on his face.

I'm sorry about your loss, and the manner in which it happened.

It has never happened to me, but my sister found her biodad dead in his bed. It seemed to be a quiet passing, and he was old and had had major health problems. But it was still hard on her. Her young son almost was the one to find him, but my sister ran ahead of her boy, having a preminition that this was what had happened.

I hope you heal well, Duncan.

aww, poor you duncan.... It must be hard... You are almost certainly in shock, the feeling will return later....just be prepared to deal with the feelings that come and try to find some supportive people in your life to be there for you.
