first the opening to my vagina was itchy and sore. intercourse was painful

then the ecessive discharge started. white and milky, no odor. Seemed like your average discharge except there was so much.

Then one side of my external parts were swollen, extremly itchy, painful and red

so whats going on. And yes I know I should see a doctor I'm telling my mom about it as we speak.

go see a doctor... it sounds like a yeast infection but your first one should be diagnosed by a doctor to make sure it's not something else

plus if you see a doctor, you can get a prescription for Diflucan instead - diflucan is a pill you take twice (if I remmeber correctly) to treat yeast infections. Monistat/canesten are creams or ovules that you have to insert vaginally before bed, and tend to leak out, make a huge mess, and leave feeling gross and greasy afterwards. I vastly prefer diflucan to monsitat/canesten/creams

It sounds like what I'm going through right now, a yeast infection.

First, see a doctor. You don't want to mis-diagnose and mess something up.

But after he says it is a yeast infection, there are a couple of natural things you can do to take care of the problem:

    1. Peel one garlic clove, being careful not to puncture the thin membrane (but do remove the leathery outer skin). Insert it into your vagina overnight. Remove when you wake.

    2. Insert a PLAIN yogurt-soaked tampon into your vagina before bed. Remove in the morning.

I used the second method, as messy as it was. And for the itchy labia, I just rubbed some yogurt onto my labia. It's feeling a lot better, after just a couple of treatments. :)

The way it works is that yogurt is active bacteria cultures. Bacteria eat yeast, so by added TONS of bacteria to the problem area, it rapidly kills the yeast. When there is no more yeast to feast on, the bacteria dies. This restores the balance of bacteria and yeast on your yoni. :)

And for the future, avoid using soaps, especially anti-bacterial soaps on your yoni. Be prepared for a yeast infection when you're prescribed an antibiotic. Drink plenty of water. That's about all I can think of right now.

imagine waking up to that and not knowing what's going on. You may've almost lost it, but imagine what it would be like to ahve that happening to your body unexpectedly. My first yeast infection was very very bad and very very sudden, it's not like it's something that is all that controllable

    great NATURAL suggestions sister!
also totally get off the sugar....it feeds the yeast & will make it much worse!
& take a probiotic internally as well (especially if you're using the doctor or over-the-counter meds)....something from the health food store, like acidophilus...good luck!

DIFLUCAN!!!!! The Rolls Royce of Yeast Drugs. Personally, NOTHING made my yeast infections worse than putting yogurt in my Yoni. Maybe it works for some people, but not for me. I take Acidophilus, orally, but most studies have shown that what you eat has little to no effect on Candida, unless you are a diabetic.

I am going to start a 3 day course of Diflucan today. I take a 20 mg Pepsid about 6 hours before each pill, and that helps with the tummy pain some people get. (I have a very sensitive stomach.) You can mess with "Natural" if you want, but I had yeast for more than a DECADE and I was messing with yogurt and garlic and crap, and I took my first Diflucan, and WOW, I didn't get an other yeast infection for more than a YEAR. With the "natural" stuff, I was getting one a month. Yeast is a VERY resistant, persistant, tough microbe. It is hard to kill, and it is notorious for just letting up enough for you to think you are OK, and then coming back with a vengence.

I'll take the Big Guns. I like my Yoni happy. And when it itches and burns and I can't make love to my man because it hurts so much, give me the damn Diflucan so I can get on with my life.

    JMO.

Just one more thing. Working in Health Care, I have seen my share of Natural Medicine stories. I've seen womyn with burnt Yonis from the garlic clove, and one baby whose mom put garlic on the baby's feet and wrapped it with gauze, to treat a "fever with candida" (candida doesn't cause a fever in healthy people) and the poor baby got the bottom of his feet chemical burned from the garlic.

Be careful, garlic can be caustic.

Yeah, that's what my midwife said. She said to be VERY careful that I didn't nick the clove, because the acids were too strong for my yoni if that were to happen.

And changing the acidic environment of the yoni isn't a bad idea. i think using harsh antifungal creams is not necessarily a GOOD idea. Yes, it works. But it's not adding bacteria to your yoni, much needed bacteria, and just killing off the yeast instead seems like it'd be a more harsh way to treat it.

Besides, my newly yeast-free yoni is at least one story of proof that yogurt is a VERY good yeast infection cure. :D

If it works, don't mess with it. I never had luck with it. I'm glad it worked for you. I hate yeast infections.

The mama whose baby got the burns on his feet actually chopped the garlic up, probably why the poor baby got burned so badly.

good god! this all sounds so horribly uncomfortable. i think my diet naturally prevents me from having the biological playground of candida. i've never had any of this trouble. bless you all, it sounds like a nightmare.

Just an itchy Yoni, there's worse stuff. (scratch scratch scratch.... the only reason I have one now, is that, after several years of not using any antibitotics, I got a urinary tract infection and had to take some, blech. I do not like taking antibiotics, in fact I refused my doctor's first choice, Cipro, because it is just nasty stuff, and IMO, should be reserved for really really intense infections, which don't respond to other antibxs. I took a sulfa instead, which is less likely to cause yeast, but I think I had the yeast infection brewing at the time I was getting the UTI. Jeez, you need a user's manual just to operate the female body, it seems like, sometimes.)

i've only ever had to take antibiotics once in my life. thank god for that. my sister was given them way too many times in my opinion, and has suffered for it. she's sick ALL THE TIME. i'm hardly ever sick. but she eats a lotta garbage, too. i think her immune system is permanently depressed.
