Best female Guitarist

I was listening to an old lp/cd of a band "Ramatam" in the 70's which was drummer Mitch Mitchell from the Hendrix Experience new band. There was a lead guitarist named April Lawton and she was one hell of a guitarist, she had since retired form music and is now an artist I hear. Who do you admire in female guitarist list? i don't know of that many female guitar players but my overall favorite female artist in general would probably have to be grace slick. great singer.

Memphis Minnie and Mother Maybelle are my two favorites (historically), but my two more modern favorites are Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt. Bonnie Raitt babysat my dad's friend... lived near them.

i agree with orsiono on bonnie rait and susan tedeschi...susan tedeschi's coolness is added to because she is married to derek.

 

That and she has a really wide influence... went to Berklee, has an insane set of pipes, and yeah, Derek Trucks/always jamming with the Allman Brothers.
