Yes, the pill can make you gain weight... However, you will gain much more than just weight, if you get pregnant. So, I'd say the trade-off is worth it.

    Just my 2 cents...

I found that i did gain weight, around 5-10 pounds. But after taking it for about 9 months, i lost the weight. And then because of that, i got stretch marks. I think it also may depend on the brand and type your on. I gained weight on Tri-Cyclen, but on Alesse, I haven't at all. Its treated me well :)

i think it depends on your lifestyle. yes, the breasts usually get a little larger, and you retain more water weight, but if you are healthy, eat a balanced diet, are active, you should maintain your current weight. you'll be fine. i'd rather be a little more curvy than be pregnant...and it makes your periods lighter and less painful. and i'm so tired of everyone being so worried about having a little extra padding...i used to be sooo overweight, but i lost it, but i'm not super-skinny and i never want to be. i know as long as i'm healthy and happy, i'm ok. i just wish more women would love their bodies and accept that it's just impossible for a lot of people to maintain that twig figure (unless of course nature lets you have the metabolism to do so)...

coz i know alot of people who didnt put on weight, so you'll just have to see and test a few different ones

Yeah, the main ingredients are estrogen or progesterone (actually I think its a homolouge...whatever) It can cause fluid retention making you gain weight, so if your woried, make sure to do some extra exercise.

For the most part, yes, but it depends on which type of pill you get on. If you get on one with low hormones, then the weight gain is minimal to none at all. It also depends on which one works for you. I'm on a very low hormone one called Levlite, or the generic brand is Lessina, and I've not had any weight gain or emotional roller coasters on it. I love it!

well at least she's bothering to go on the pill because she's concerned. when i was sexually active at 13 i didnt use anything

going on the pill can make you do lots of things. your body goes through liek this suck fest... some say it clears your acne, make your tits nice, makes you really bitchy, and bla bla bla. its main purpose however, is to prevent you from being pregnant and makes your periods regular. i think you should talk to your doctor if it makes you gain too much or loose too much weight... and espaicially at our age when were still growing.. they are chemicals in your body that add to all the other ones you've got.
