Hey yall how much more do you think it would cost to get my nipples pierced again only this time with sterling silver or 14k gold?? im thinking that the surgical steel is the reason mine still weren't healed after 6 months...cause when I got my ears peirced as a kid i had really bad reactions to anything but the silver and gold....i still do now that i think about it.... so yeah how much more do you think it would cost?
i dont think a shop would use silver or gold. theyre really bad for you. they are porus and low quality. do you know if you have a nickel allergy? talk to your piercer about tygon. implant (316lvm) stainless still has like 5% nickel in it. so you may be reacting to that.
really? I always thought 14k gold was safer...I dont know...I just am still trying to figure out why the hell they never healed and I dont want ot make the smae mistakes twice...so i thought maybe that would be the best hting to try...I guess not
the only metals suitiable for piercing is implant grade titanium, niobium and implant grade (316lvm) stainless steel. however niobium is difficult to find. there is also the option of tygon, pyrex, and ptfe. my best recomendation is for you to try it with titanium. some times people just have a really hard time healing nipple piercings though too. my girlfriend had her nipples pierced 4 times each, she just couldnt get them to heal.
good advice novocaine. and also true that no one will probably pierce with silver or gold. and sometimes nipple piercings take 6 or more months to heal, sometimes they never do. i've seen all cases. body piercings are very different than ear lobe piercings. i would try and find some tygon.
For people with metal sensitivities (me...much experience with piercings and trial and error): implant grade steel (not regular stainless) 18-24k yellow gold (no less) ...should work. Silver is likely to cause a reaction if you've had trouble before. I know some people claim that gold is not good...and i have had trouble with 10 and 14 k gold, but above that, nickel really isn't an issue. All my piercings done in 18k yellow have healed quickly and stayed that way so i've never changed the jewelry. why mess with a good thing once you've found it?
bad material to have in your body, porus surface, low grade, high price. 316lvm stainless steel, and implant titanium is designed to be permanantly put in the body. my locic: if surgeons use it, its good enough for piercing .
Mine never healed either. i went to a piercer to have her look at it. I had mine done by a friend of mine..which is probably why it didn't heal...but yeah. So i took it out and I'm just going to get it re done later
