I advocate we stop being consumers. Every commodity we consume is a piece of our own death.

Right. I'm pretty sure there's no way in hell to be a non-consumer. Everything consumes. I think you can certainly be a responsible consumer. You know- research, make a concious choice to avoid products and services with unknown and sketchy origins, avoid contributing to soul-less companies who value profit over planetary well being and individual human lives. And you can also personally give back, try to even the score a bit. Maybe join or start a group whose goal is to refurbish and recycle what everyone else is so willing to toss in the garbage. Also- don't be wasteful in general. Use the last bit of everything and try to reuse whatever possible. Most things can be turned into something useful with a little effort. And teach your children well. [IMG]

the beauty of that is that you can do it with nobody help. its a personal revolution. transform your own life what you do, what you 'consume'. Only buy what is needed, do not live the 'norm'
you do not need approval of the masses, just live it.

Well, I hope you plan on growing your own food, weaving your own fabric (oh, well, you better start raising some sheep for fiber to make that fabric, but you can't buy any sheep because you don't want to consume anything), oh and in order for you to stay on your computer you better use solar power (so you better start figuring out how to create solar energy or windpower without buying any products to do so). Also, you should start mining your own oil...because that's what you're going to need if you ever want a new computer...

Don't drive, don't buy a new bike, don't refrigerate your food...

    And forget about using condoms...

Yup...let me know if you accomplish that, dude.

Well maybe he meant a little less extreme there guys. Maybe he would attempt to barter for goods needed, rabbits, sheep, could provide material to make cloth but then again one could trap and use pelts, or some indian tribes used woodland material for clothing. As for the web and such, yes very tough indeed. A great magazine "Primitive Living" and a cool set of books is "Thrown Naked In the Wilderness". You want to start out as a none consumer well be a consumer one time and a do-er the rest with that book. As for me I enjoy spending my money on things, I like the cushy life. I appreciate those who choose not too, or to live a different way and am proud to live in a world I can view that in.
