Hi, I was curious as to what campsite I should reserve and all signs so far point to Northewoods as it is close to the action. For some reason I remember in the past hearing that that is also the campground where people party all night long... I am sure that goes on everywhere, but was thinking it would be nice to get some rest. Lake Sallie sounds nice as when returning every night your greeted by a drum circle under the bridge, but I hear the mesquitos are bad because of the lake. Any suggestions or experiences in the past with the different locales would be awesome.
Well, I'm camping in Northwoods again this year....it's an excellent location, lots of shade....i like it. Lake Sallie's good, too, but my vote's for northwoods.
Well you're gonna get a non-stop party no matter what. I camped at the Lake Sallie Campsite last year, which was deemed the family oriented campsite, and it still went on 'a' raging. I kind of got dissilusioned by it honestly, something about the drunk-ass college kids pulling up in their SUV's all around me with their Wal-Mart shopping bags asking if they can do a line in our car really bugged me out. But that was abundant everywhere I guess. The misquitos were never all that bad... A lot of fires are going to keep them at bay. It depends on what you're looking for I guess. Sallie is my vote because you can swim every morning without too long of a hike.... and it's not too distant from the shows either... we could always hear the shows we weren't at. Wish I could say "see ya there" but I doubt I'll be making it. The lineup just don't look all that great to me (aside from MMW and Mutaytor) Last year Les Claypool, Buckethead, and Cyro Baptista and the Beat the Donkey were the highlights... and nothing even close to that callaibir is there this year... Probably going to head up north to Folk Festival... And if I can get in with my buddy who's going to vend drums... then Bonnarroo (Earl Scruggs, Beck, Old Crow Medicine Show.... YEAH!) GOOD LUCK FRIEND!
I've been there a few years and it dosen't really matter where you camp. Though I like the North Woods better.
