I have rubber soul on record..its awsome.. I love Magical Mystery tour and Yesterday and today....hell there all good I LOVE THE SONG 'Blackbird"... ALSO....if u put a mirror in the middle of "hearts" on srgt peppers...the hearts turns into "He * Die"...(the * is an arrow pointing to Paul...(just to add the the whole paul is dead thing
Yes, "She's Leaving Home" is based on a true story, a news story Paul read that moved him artistically. A newly published book, A HARD DAY'S WRITE, details the stories behind every song. At $20-$25, it isn't being given away, but if you're a fan you'll find a lot of useful background there. The song itself is excellent, one of the high points of SGT. PEPPER. The vocals are straightforward, the chord progression is inspired, and of course the lyrics are captivating. I don't know about the "bye bye" bit at the end -- that may be a bit too sentimental -- but the rest of the song is terrific.....
Hmm, yeah, what you're saying about Rubber Soul is true, but still... it's not because Paul was inspired by the Beach Boys for Sgt. Pepper that it can't be their most revolutionary album. I'd say Rubber Soul is THE most revolutionary album of the 60's, maybe, or ONE OF THE MOST, at least, and Sgt. Pepper the most revolutionary album of all the Beatles work.
A couple of things She's Leaving Home: Nice song. Pretty obvious what it's about...these guys were so popular they were shut in alot and their inspirations came from newspapers, TV and radio most of the time. Rubber Soul: was a breakthrough album, leaning more towards the folk influences such as Bob Dylan, but I don't think it was nearly as revolutionary as Revolver though, theri first notable use of experimentation with tape loops and such....that led the way for alot of the other bands to imitate that effect. I know I know, there are other instances of it but the Beatles were influential in making it a practice at the time. Abbey Road: It turned out great considering they were just throwing a bunch of unfinished work together to finish out their contract with Capitol Records so they could break up. Let It Be: is overlooked....they got back to their roots in straight up rock and roll with some good rock tunes And Your Bird Can Sing has got to be one of their greatest accomplishments as far as guitar arrangements with the original 4 man format...everybody tried to copy that sound afterwards. Yesterday and Today is also one of their best!
Oh wait, I think I screwed up. :& I think it was Rubber Soul that inspired Pet Sounds and Pet Sounds inspired Revolver... I think. Hell, I don't even know anymore!
I think that this is a great song too, though I'm not sure whether it is one of my favorites from that album. 'A Day in the Life' is probably my favorite track from it. All of the tracks are great, however. Out of the three Beatles albums I have - Magical Mystery Tour, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road - I always have difficulty choosing a favorite. They are all amazing, I think.
if I edit that post and take the giant picture out... with all the messages go back to normal size? ah, this is so hard to read and it's my own damn fault!
I like the song "She's leaving home", but my favorite song on Pepper is within you without you, the whole eastern sitar thing is really cool, and the lyrics are great!!! We were talking - about the love that's gone so cold And the people who gain the world and lose their soul They don't know, they can't see - are you one of them ?
i think "shes leaving home" is based around the same story as the twilights song "cathy come home"...
'She's Leaving Home' is beautiful. Sgt.Pepper is my favourite beatles album (it's NOT overrated!), i love all the songs on that album. 'Within You Without You' is my favourite track as well. I think 'Revolver' was the most revolutionary album. 'Rubber Soul' was a great pop album, but 'Revolver' was really ahead of its time; backwards guitar, sitar, songs about lsd, tape loops, ... What??? this song is great!! I like it even more than 'Lucy In The Sky' I can't imagine Sgt.Pepper without 'Lovely Rita'!
"Lovely Rita" is great...when its not stuck in my head...we drove 5 hours to Boston yesterday...and it was stuck in my head for all 5 hours...I was going bananas
Oh lovely song "She's leaving home"...O just love its lyrics, vocals..It's amazing.....And I really can't say who inspired them PAul and Jon ....And I think anybody can tell this, only lyricists.... "Lovely Rita","Liucy in the sky with diamonds"...also my favourites.......
