I am participating in the Avon walk for breast cancer.... Its a Marathon and a half... I have been training... for about 8 weeks and I have 13 weeks including this week until the walk... I was just wondering if anyone has walked a marathon or not? or even ran one... Was looking for some inspiration maybe.... Because besides training almost every day I have to fund raise and the physical part is easy but the fundraising is hard because im shy... Anyway... Looking for anyone who has done a charity walk of any kind and has some warm words of wisdom!

Thanks guys... and if you are intrested in more information you can go to the website... at http://info.avonfoundation.org/site/TR?px=2359338&pg=personal&fr_id=1170

The only advice I have is to keep walking. Do you have the course map? Is it hilly, etc. Vary the incline when you walk (if you are using a treadmill). Good Luck! That is a great cause. I wish I could do it.

As far as getting people to sponsor you, have you talked to people you work with or something like that. Someone at my work just put a flyer up in the lunch room saying they were doing it and to email them to sponsor them. That could work for you. Once people realize what it is for, I'm sure they'll cough up some dough.
