Hello theree! well i dont know much abou reggae, but anytime ive heard it, ive liked it. of course i know bob marley, and hes really good - but id like 2 listen 2 some more reggae like his, not like now-a-days reggae, but from the 60's or 70's? any1 know any good bands or singers of such? thank u mon
I love reggae but I hate to admit that now adays when I listen to reggae I mainly just listen to good 'ol Bob. But hey, I can't help it! Bob Marley is awesome, even though it took me forever to figure out what instrument he plays (I might have been able to figure it out faster if I had a Marley CD that was actually bought from a store but all I have is CD's that my friend copied from the original CD and downloaded songs from Kazaa Lite). Have a wonderful life . Peace(s of cake are always delicious, hehe good one Tyler) .
Burning Spear and Lee Scratch Perry are my favourite reggae artists. Also like Augustus Pablo and King Tubby for dub.
Steel Pulse - get the album True Democracy - In my opinion, the best reggae album ever produced. The old cliche, if I was stuck on an island and could only have one reggae album this would be the album - hands down. I will admit to liking Bob overall more than Steel Pulse, but I honestly feel that this album of theirs from start to finish is better than any album Bob put out. For those that do not have it - get off the computer and go get it, its a must have.
Bob Marley and Peter Tosh are my favourites too. If you can, try to download some Finnish reggae from the internet. Soul Captain Band is awesome!
check out tryo, they're a group outa france, acousitc accapella stuff but very reggae now that I and I have shared words me say peace, and jah love, hear?
Jimmy Cliff Desmond Dekker Max Romeo If you are interested check out the trojan records website, its got loads of Reggae stuff there
Aren't The Skatalites ska? Or so was my impression, I don't really know. I'd recommend you Peter Tosh, like some people did before me. (but there are some today's bands I think you'd like, too, like Ziggy Marley, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Gentleman, Djembe...) Love, Borut
Easy Dub All Stars- they got a cover of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" called "Dub Side of the Moon", y'should really check it out.
