I really want to quit smoking, but it's so damn hard. I just want some tips on how to do it from others who have quit. Thanks.

try nicotine gum, that helps with the cravings
chew on carrot sticks for the oral fixation
    drink lots of water
take up a new activity, like yoga for example
avoid situations where you know you might be tempted i.e going to the pub, parties, until you feel more confident
when you get really anxious, write down all the reasons why you want to quit smoking.

check out this website, everyone's really helpful http://quit-smoking-support.woofmang.com/

    good luck!

Put butter on everything that you eat. It worked for me and I did not have to try too hard because I felt satisfied. Also if you are going to smoke use rollies not ready mades and recycle the butts. Drink as much coffee or water as you want. Also have dried fruit and nuts to nibble on for comfort food.

My best advice is think nothing of it...continue with life as if smoking was never a part of it. That was my method. Today is my one month anniversary of being smoke free :)

I smoked tobacco of more than two years, have ceased to smoke 3 months ago. I agree the message which was before mine. Simply it is not necessary to think of it.
To me it was not so difficult. I think the main thing really to want, and the rest will not deliver very much greater tortures

yeah, more elaborately.... don't sit here thinking, the whole time "arrgh I'm quitting this is going to be tough" or "ohhh I've been quit 1 hour 33 mins and 21 seconds!" lol....drawing attention to your quit, seems to make it harder I think.

This was the fourth time I quit...and it's been over a month now, and I feel that I have kicked the habit for good this time..... And the best thing was just not thinking of it.

The first couple days however, it IS hard to not think of it, so in that case I bought cinnamon sticks, and when I felt stressed, I'd suck through a cinnamon stick as I would a cigarette...it sounds pathetic, but it works and helps calm your nerves. Really, it's the breathing that helps.... so any breathing exercises you know should help. So if you absolutely CAN NOT seem to de-focus yourself from it...then try the breathing.

I don't recommend the gum, patch or any of it. The gum gave me sores and hiccups.... plus then, you have to ween yourself off that too, which takes a couple/few months.... if you just cold turkey all the nicotine is out of your system somewhere around the third day...and after the second week, you're pretty much THROUGH with physical withdrawls and cravings.

    But, that's just my opinion.

Need anymore help feel free to PM me :) Good luck, darlin'
