Redfox, the world condemned Hussein for invading Kuwait? Do you actually think that Hussein felt any ramifications from invading Kuwait?? All the U.N. did was put sanctions on Iraq that hurt the Iraqi people. Last I checked.

Dude, have you ever heard of satire? It's like an entire genre of political and social commentary? I think you may be in a little over your head. Might want to quit while you're behind. ;)

I time they said that we have only completed 102 out of a promised 1,200 reconstruction projects.
People are afraid to leave their homes, and cities are occupied by militiamen, the new government is phony, and has declared martial law. All those lists of the great things we have accomplished are pretty much all we have accomplished, and it ain't much.
Under 50% of the iraqis now think the war was worth it, less than that like president bush, while 20% liked saddam hussein (atleast we are doing slightly better than a homicidal maniac......)
So, virginia, there ain't no santa claus, the world is fucked, and there is nothing nothing we can do about it.

I'd much rather wake up to that than: my sisters and mother raped, my father and brothers off to to be executed (only after watching the rapes), and myself off to be tortured. All because I didn't share political ideals of whatever person rules my sector of dirt. Saddam killed 100's of thousands... its a fact! Bush killed 16,000... it isn't a fact! Which one would you rather have? (neither isn't an option)

No poll has ever came out saying that the Iraqis want Saddam back. In fact, the MASS MAJORITY are excited to get their new country off the ground and make a positive difference in the world.

I'd like to see you prove this "lie" was the fault of Bush!

Well Silky with your line of reasoning, then I can say this. Lot's of countries have problems with what the US has done in Iraq. The US was not approved by the UN to go to war, nor did you accept the decision that international body made. Iraq paid for what it's leader did, the United states will not. That doesn't justify anything. If it was a smaller country the UNited states would be one of the first to condemn, but since the US is the teeth of the UN who's going to do anything to theem or about it. The fact of the matter is a small economically depressed country was overrun by a larger more powerful country, for interests that only helped that larger more powerful country. No matter how you slice it it's wrong and if it was anyone else but the USA there would have been more done about it.

I can't even believe I'm responding to this nonsense.

The vast majority of people in Iraq are not even employed. Women's rights have been systematically stripped away since the US puppet regime got into power (women now complain that they are afraid to walk the streets alone, and a new law banning women from seeking divorce is in the works). 15,000 innocent people have been slaughtered. Much of Baghdad is in ruins. The education system, which used to be free and mandatory for all, is now nonexistent and being closed to girls (oh, wait, yay! Americans built 3 schools! *rolling eyes*).

Know who IS reportedly doing very well in Iraq? Surprise, surprise! The already wealthy Iraqis who supported America in the first place. Yay. Apparently, these wealthy pieces of crap now have access to an array of American goods that they couldn't get in the past without leaving their country. Like big-screen tv's. I'm sure that makes the 80% of Iraq living in squalor feel so much better. Or the tens of thousands who have lost children, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, best friends, teachers...but hey, why look at the negative? Later - I have to go vomit.

Read this post very carefully. Understand?? Read it again. Go on, read the last part. Got it? Please, read the last sentence of the first paragraph. I know you people can read. You need to get out of blame mode for just one second. If you don't want to acknowledge the topic then don't even post in this thread. If I wanted to hear about all the tradgedies (which I know is going on, nobody has ever denied them), I would have started a thread called:

"Everybody regurgitate all the horrible shit going on in Iraq that the media loves to focus on."

The funny thing is, I'm not even asking anybody to say that this war is justified. I myself even admitted that we went to war on false pretenses. We know this. What we don't know is any of the good things that the coalition has been doing. If you did know you wouldn't have to keep posting all the bullshit that you have been.

"The only thing I want to know is why people refuse to admit that there are more good things being done that bad."

    Because that's completely absurd.

Only someone who watches Fox news (faux news) all day could believe something like that.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION!!! Definately not this world....

First of all you are absolutely wrong on every point. Womens rights in Iraq and Afganistan have never been stronger, hundreds of millions of dollars have gone into rebuilding the schools system and ensuring that the children now have pencils and books, the power production in Baghdad is way over what it was prewar, we didn't destroy "all of baghdad" in the first place. So how is it all destroyed now? (don't try insurgent fighting, you don't carpet bomb a city to get insurgents) It is true that some random number of civilians are dead, 15,000 is way over on the high side, Amnesty International said that number as an absolute maximum. I like how you criticize the army for 15K but you aren't criticizing Saddam for his successful completion of the 3rd worst genocide of all time. He killed hundreds of thousands of people, how is that better than 15K. Please explain.

I have several "pen pals" in Iraq, I started writing them because there is soooo much BS on TV; and only idiots believe that crap(this is when you read your original post again). They tell me a much different story, they say that the MASS MAJORITY of the populous support the Americans, that things have changed for the better, that the unemployment rate is decreasing every quarter, that their water is much cleaner, they can now participate in political groups, hold protests, VOTE!!!!, (oddly) furniture stores are flourishing, wages have mulitiplied for a large percentage of the work force yet inflation has decreased.

ALL of the Iraqis I keep in touch with are excited to rejoin the world community and see a VERY bright future full of opportunity. Iraq clearly stands on the door step to being the most successful country in the region, they need our support.

So grow up, quit parroting propoghanda, be a little positive....and take a shower hippy.

It only took 30 posts to get a sensible answer, not bad. That is exactly what I am talking about. Anybody who has been there or knows somebody that is/has been there says exactly what HippyHunter said. Of course we know of all the atrocities, how could we not, the world media is pounding it into our head. Christ, even Iraqis admit that the world media is full of it. My point of this thread is that some people refuse to admit that anything positive is being accomplished. I know the reason, and if you all think about it you will too. There shouldn't even been a political viewpoint in this thread but some people just can't see through that, and that's pretty sad.

Thank you Hippy Hunter for setting politics aside and being able to see the truth.

Trout, even though Fox is right-biased doesn't mean they are any better than the rest of them.

There are WAY more accomplishments, these are just the critical ones.

We did all of this while helping Ghana, Pakistan Ecuador, , Sri Lanka, Croatia, Mexico, North Korea (remember the train disaster), and Iraq (that ol' earthquake thing) AND almost the entire continent of Afica!

BAD AMERICA!! You shouldn't be giving away $7.5 billion (not including Iraq) in aid!

Nice try buddy, denial wont help you now. The BBC has repeated a lot of this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3846831.stm

Its kinda funny that you don't trust the government, its comprised of US citizens just like you; each one hoping to be the next wistle blower. Sounds like you do trust what some dirty hippy tells you anonamously, with no credibility, no knowledge, and no experience who is completely biased.

To answer your initial question, puting my opinion (which is against the war) aside, it is simply that the media is-
1- too ratings driven under pressure from it's owners. Yes, Fox is obviously far right leaning and CNN is more center/left, but both suck when it comes to concentrating on intelligent NEWS.
    KOBE BRYANT
    LACY AND SCOTT PETERSON
    BRITANY SPEARS
RUNNING OF THE BULLS IN SPAIN (yearly)
    THE LATEST DIET CRAZE

Now NOT putting my opinion aside, the war and how it was conducted was wrong, and Bush has to go! I sincerly hope that out of the pain and blood shed, Iraq does become a better and free nation. But, this is a long way from over. The religious extremist are ready and willing to take over as soon as we leave and the bloodshed will continue as long as we are their. I do feel for the people who are there genuinly working and risking their lives to rebuild Iraq and feel their efforts are not being reported enough.
