more and more people are converting to being " religious" these days and its annoying. then they are all " drinking is bad, sex before marriage is bad , swear words are bad " and blah blah blah. lots of the people that do it are fakers. they are just trying to fit in with people they think are "cool" when really these people are just dinks. the guys are total wusses and the girls are tight as hell and extrmemly boring. they're idea of partying is having some friends over, playing monopoly: jesus edition and ordering pizza...and if they are feeling particularly crazy...drink pop. thses people annoy me very much and im wondering why more people are becoming dinks? what is so enticing about going to youth group on friday night when you could be goin out on dates, partying with friends, or doing anything else that would be fun. what is enticing about , watching your language, not fooling around or having sex, and being so lame you could bore the pants off the art history teacher. any thoughts?

do you feel your life is sooo much better therefore?? seems you seem pretty mad at people according to your post. i personally do not see more people becoming more religious, this may be because i am from England, i only know a few people who can relate to one religious group. i do however see a small rise in spirituality which personally i like that very much. maybe people do not want to have your definition of fun!!maybe fun is relative and totally personal. and just to add the few relgious people i know, they are not boring in my exerience. my ex-girlfriends was a christian, and she played in a rock band, went to concerts, stayed out having fun with us. don't group all people into one group from some personal experience lovex

why thank you, this is a forum so people have to expect opinions and questions. i do not live where you do, so my representation of if religion is growing isn't fair upon your society just mine. i do not also believe in convincing others that you are right, because what is 'right'? i have changed my views a fews times in my life, there are only a few things that i believe i am close to accepting (in terms of morals and ethics). but i would never try and convince others that i am correct. i believe we should live our lives as we see fit, and use the actual act of 'what we do' to convince others- be a good example. peacex

And why dont you look at the positive aspects of being a religious? Religious people who have a good and regular connection with God: 1. Have Inner Peace, which we all want. 2. Most of the time honest, and honesty is not available mush around us these days. 3. Care about ethics and rules. 4. When they dont drink, they save themsleves and other people from the negative consequences of drinking like liver disorders, cancer, car accidents,..etc. 5. If they think that sex before marriage is bad, so they sure wont rape! Your sis will be safer and moresecure if her neighbor is religous and care about God and his teachings. 6. 1. That's a very general statement. I know a number of quite religious and devout people that don't fit most of those. 2. Just to be clear, plenty of nonreligious people have those same characteristics.
First, people seem to desire simple, clear answers in this time of ever increasing complexity in life. You can hardly blame them, even when they turn to strict, authoritarian religions/groups. They need to know their place in the world, to understand how they fit in, to make sense of the multitude of different ideas, moral codes, and perspectives they are getting. It's a terrible, terrible shame that such must come at the expense of free thought and the supression of natural urges and feelings. Not that it "must" but it so often does. Spirituality, however, I am a big fan of. The search for truth, especially for understanding the self, that is vital and good. But this organized, heirarchical religious setting tends to be pretty shallow, because it does not come natural. So you have people fighting over dogma, preaching loudly to others, trying to not swear, fuck, drink, etc and instead do what Father Church tells them too, usually for no other reason than "because I said so." Also, though it may not pertain to the original poster, the first reply was spot on, in a sense. I knew (know) too many people like that, it does seem boring to me, and pathetic. I mean, getting drunk/high all the time, fucking random people, etc...just isn't appealing to me. I guess it takes all kinds to fill the freeways, though.
Don't despair so much. There are plenty of religious people who are hypocrites and do all the things they feel guilty about. They will eventually forget their religion and turn to dink and drugs and crime openly and if not, well then we have the satisfaction of knowing they are no better or worse than anyonelse.
well, religion would have a part of peoples lifestyles, the teachings of a particular one. and not all religious people are prunes, not all people without religon are all that fun either. sex,drugs,and rock and roll aren't everytihng you know. my idea of fun may seem no fun in someone elses eyes. its diverse people are different live with it.
