my boyfriend is straight edge but im not. but he's always believed in it. i do agreee with that its kinda a cult because it drags people in who u'd never think would go stright egde. although i do thouroughly like minor threat.
I don't care when people are straight edge, it just bothers me when they try to force me to join them in their 'no drug world' I mean I dont shove joints in their face and tell them to get high, so they should have come common courtesy and back off.
in my opinion most straight edgers take it a bit too far. the original theory as stated by the guy who started it wasn't that you should'n ever do drugs but that you shouldn't be a junky, drinking is ok but dont be a drunk and sex has its ploace but dont follow you dick around. pretty much he was just saying that you shouldn't live on the extreme edge of live fast die young because its very likely that you will die young.
that is interesting. i have not heard that before. but some people i know (like my boyfriend) isnt "straight edge" to have the label straight edge. he just is was told he was by others.
You realise you've just said the fundamental punk belief is do drugs, drink and have sex with everything that moves. Straightedge isn't really a rightwing thing, it's for people who care about their health... In saying that, I'm far from straight edge.
I dont like straight edge people, I find them to be wankers and wouldnt want to spend any time in their company. Like Sexy Drug said, it's a cult, a damn cult!
